2023 Renault Zoe EV launched in Malaysia – 2 variants; up to 395 km range, 136 PS, 245 Nm; from RM165k

TC Euro Cars has officially launched the facelifted Renault Zoe in Malaysia, with final pricing now available for the two available variants, both of which have been renamed. Referring to the spec sheet, the base option is now called the ZE50 R110 (previously Zen R110), while the range-topper is the ZE50 R135 (previously Intens R135).

In terms of pricing, the R110 retails at RM165,000 on-the-road without insurance, while the R135 goes for RM179,000. A three-year, 100,000-km vehicle warranty accompanies each purchase, and the Zoe’s EV battery is covered by an eight-year, 160,000-km warranty with a minimum capacity of 70%.

Both variants feature the newer Z.E. 50 battery with an energy capacity of 52 kWh, which provides up to 395 km of range in the R110, while the R135 can only do 386 km. However, the latter’s electric motor is rated at 136 PS (134 hp or 100 kW) and 245 Nm of torque, more than the R110’s 109 PS (107 hp or 80 kW) and 225 Nm.

Charging times are identical, with a full charging using an AC input (Type 2) requiring three hours at 22 kW or 9.5 hours at 7.4 kW. The electric vehicle (EV) also supports DC fast charging (CCS2) at 50 kW that can get the battery from a 0-80% state of charge in 70 minutes.

As for equipment, the R110 comes with full-LED headlamps, C-shaped LED daytime running lights, 16-inch 10-spoke alloy wheels (with 195/55 profile tyres), automatic air-conditioning, a 10-inch digital instrument cluster, a 7-inch Easy Link touchscreen infotainment system (supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay), six speakers, black fabric upholstery, electrically-adjustable side mirrors and rear reverse sensors.

The R135 builds upon the R110 by gaining front fog lamps, a different 15-spoke wheel design (still 16-inch units), offline navigation, rear USB charging ports, black leather-fabric combination upholstery, an electrochromic rear-view mirror, power-folding side mirrors, front parking sensors, a reverse camera and hands-free park assist.

Safety kit for both variants include four airbags, lane departure warning, lane keep assist and a range of passive systems (ESC, traction control, ABS, brake assist, hill start assist). No autonomous emergency braking for either, but the R135 gets extra systems such as auto high beam and blind spot monitoring.

Customers can order the R110 in Black or Solid White, with the R135 being offered in a wider palette that includes Black, Blue, Purple and Red. TC Euro Cars will also sell you home chargers if you need it, including one with an output of 7 kW for RM6,250 (includes basic installation) or a unit capable of 22 kW (this will be set to 11 kW if the power supply isn’t feasible) for RM6,950. There’s also the option of adding Raytech FX 5mil security tint for RM1,600.
