Action will be taken against state directors and branch heads of the road transport department (JPJ) if the department’s service counters are found to be closed to the public, JPJ director-general Datuk Aedy Fadly Ramli has said, reported The Star.
The JPJ director-general has stressed the need for the department to improve its public service, the report wrote. “This directive was also given to the highest federal management body. Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar has underscored that those who are careless or fail to perform their duties could face disciplinary action,” Aedy Fadly said.
The warning from the JPJ director-general comes after a surprise inspection of the JPJ Galleria counters in Putrajaya was carried out on September 2 by the chief secretary to the government, who noted that there were issues with long wait times, broken furniture and inadequate ventilation, and had instructed for improvements in these areas to be carried out.
The JPJ director-general then in response announced a phased improvement plan that was to begin on September 9, and this is aimed at enhancing counter services nationwide in order to reduce congestion and wait times.
Meanwhile, the Selangor state JPJ has deployed staff to assist members of the public with the MyJPJ application to streamline the services offered, according to The Star.

Don’t just open the counter, set KPI in terms of number of customer served and max wait time. And please no use of hand phone while on duty.

If serious, they should set up a policing website for the public to upload photos or videos of branches that don’t comply to directives. Whether action will be taken, at least staffs will think twice about dogging at work.
