Road closures for Le Tour de Langkawi bicycle race

Road closures have been announced for the 2024 Le Tour de Langkawi (LTdL) beginning from the end of this week. The race distance this year is 1,190 km, beginning in Langkawi on September 29 for the first stage.

There is also a “Domestique Ride” scheduled for September 28 in Langkawi, with 15 road closures shut down in stages. These are Jalan Padang Matsirat, Lencongan Putra 1, Penarak, Ayer Hangat, Pantai Kok, Kuala Teriang, Nyiur Chabang and Ulu Melaka.

Also affected are Jalan Makam Mahsuri, Mata Air, Padang Matsirat, Lapangan Terbang, Kuala Muda, Teluk Baru, Temonyong, Bukit Malut and Padang Matsirat. The LTdL race proper that begins September 29 will commence with a 96.5 km stage through the roads mentioned above, with road closure starting at 8 a.m.

The next day, September 30, Stage 2 takes place from Arau, Perlis to Butterwort, Penang. There will be 24 roads closed or diverted beginning from 11 a.m. involving Jalan Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin (Arau), Jitra, Yan, Sungai Petani, Tikam Batu, Bagam Ajam with the stage finish at Padang Merdeka in Butterworth.

Moving onto Stage 3, the peloton goes from Taiping to Cameron Highlands on Tuesday, October 1. This results in road closures around the Taiping Zoo, Changkat Jering, Padang Rengas, Kuala Kangsar, Gopeng, Sungai Siput, Brincang before race end in Tanah Rata, Cameron Highlands.

Stage 4 sees LTdL on October 2 going from Kuala Kubu Baru, Selangor to Bentong, Pahang. roads will be closed from Jalan Ampang Pechah, Kuala Kubu Baru town, the Gap, Raub town, Jalan Lurah Bilut, Bentong, Kuala Lumpur – Gua Musang highway to Dataran Bentong where the stage ends.

Heading into the capital city, Stage 5 goes from Kuala Lumpur to Malacca on October 3. Starting at KLCC at 11 a.m. the stage goes through Jalan Ampang, Jalan Bukit Belacan, Hulu Langat, Semenyih, Beranang, Seremban, Senawang and Alor Gajah, before ending at the Melaka International Trade Centre (MITC).

On October 4, Stage 6 goes from Batu Pahat to Kulai, Johor passing through Kluang, Rengit, Benut and ending at Jalan Kulai-Sedenak. Stage 7 on October 5 goes from Miri to Bintulu, Sarawak with the peloton flagging off at Miri Waterfront and ending at Lasar Kenyalang in Bintulu.

The final stage of LTdL takes place in Bintulu itself, with road closures on Jalan Pantai Tanjung Batu, Jalan Tun Openg, Lebuhraya Miri, Jalan Tun Ahmad Zaidi, ending at Jalan Rakawi Yusof. Road users are advised to be aware of the LTdL race dates and journeys accordingly as well as follow instructions from traffic police and race marshals at the respective race locations.

    name is Tour Langkawi…Can you please race there & dont disturb Klang Valley traffic….get lost!
