Following a recent instance of a Malaysian vehicle in Thailand being illegally parked, resulting in it being clamped, Thailand law enforcement has urged Malaysian motorists to abide by local traffic laws, New Straits Times has reported.
The news outlet cited a report of a Malaysian-registered luxury vehicle that was shown on social media video being clamped for illegal parking, and the vehicle was believed to have blocked an intersection in the southern border town of Hatyai.
Action was taken against the Malaysian drivers because their vehicles obstructed traffic flow, and such incidents often occur in Hatyai which is a popular tourist destination for Malaysians, said Thailand Tourist Police (Seventh Region) deputy chief Lt Col Sakarin Anusaman Sakul.
“Actually, many Malaysian drivers are not aware of the laws while holidaying in Thailand. For instance, they cannot simply park their vehicles wherever they like while in Hatyai. They must pay attention to the signboards placed by Thai authorities along the roadside,” Sakarin said.
“If they park in the wrong place or their vehicles block traffic flow, the traffic police will take action. If drivers are present in their vehicles, the traffic police will issue a summons on the spot. However, if the vehicle is left unattended, the officer will clamp the tyres. The officers will also take pictures of the offence as evidence. This is all stated in the rules,” he added.

their law enforcers are efficient while ours are not, this is the reason. we are more interested at bringing in bunches over bunches of war victims to mingle with current bunch of banglas and rohingyas. like they said, the more the merrier…
It still doesn’t give us the excuse to behave badly in another country.
Wooohoo, we are famous for the wrong reasons. M’sia boleh!
Normal you want to them to follow other country law when they can’t even follow own country law?
2023 December I parked my Triton at the side of a small road in the quiet residential area with my bumper a little bit in front of the white line but tire still touching the white line. Kena clamp. Paid THB1200 for it after discount at the police station. The cops are out to get Malaysian cars so watch out! Sharing my personal experience.
Malaysian driver has money to pay the fines. hahhahaha
Driving a luxury car to bordertown and illegal parked. The simple mentality is the car owner assumed thailand is a class below malaysia n the filthy car is a luxury wealthy tonto vehicles. Common la. There are tons of super rich thai in haadyai. Alphard or welfire is oeanuts. Buck up n follow the laws.
