Another vehicle to join Toyota’s line-up for this year’s SEMA Show is the Ultimate Tailgate Tundra, which was created as part of the carmaker’s partnership with the National Football League (NFL).
As its name suggests, the customised pick-up truck celebrates tailgating, which is a tradition where food and drinks are served at or near the back end of a parked vehicle prior to a public event such as a football game.
With the Ultimate Tailgate Tundra, Toyota decided to go full Pimp My Ride by fitting a custom-built staging shell that automatically rises from the bed of a truck on four electric actuators at a push of button.
When deployed, it reveals five 55-inch weatherproof outdoor screens that provide a clear view of the action from any angle. To keep the glare of the sun at bay, there’s also a rack-mounted 180 Dual + R-Filler canopy that provides 185 square feet of shaded space.
For audio, a bespoke system based on JBL’s Club Marine Series was fitted, including an A5055 amplifier to provide a signal to four tower speakers, while a separate amplifier drives a pair of 10-inch subwoofers.
As impressive as this audio-visual powerhouse is, there’s also the matter of connectivity in order to stream any content. For this, an on-board satellite Wi-Fi system provides connection to the channels broadcasting games, with a generator handling power delivery for the entire setup.
