Trailer detaches from heavy-duty truck on NKVE and crashes into divider – police investigating incident

A trailer detached from its heavy-duty truck on the New Klang Valley Expressway (NKVE) recently, with the incident that occurred last Thursday (November 21, 2024) being recorded in a video that has gone viral on social media.

In the 17-second video, the runaway trailer on the left lane of the highway suddenly veers to the right and narrowly misses another truck as well as the recording vehicle. As the trailer hits the highway’s divider and comes to a stop, the heavy-duty truck it was attached to is seen on the left.

As reported by Sinar Harian, Kuala Lumpur police has taken the statement of the truck driver and is currently investigating the cause of the incident under Section 43(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

Fine the transport company heavily and suspend the license until they review their safety SOP and retrain whoever is responsible.

Yup. Cam car driver was super lucky as that part of the highway is going uphill. If the trailer brakes did not engage after coming loose, it would have rolled all the way downhill collecting as many roadusers along the way down.

Suddenly Madani is facing lots of heavy vehicle accidents nonstop. Is it a sign because of lax enforcement due to 50%, 60% to 70% saman discounts from PeeMX, and a transport minister that is prioritising number plate sales and punishing people who dare to demand paper roadtax disc?

See kemalangan Yang mungkin berlaku akibat kerosakan mekanikal. Time to change

Maybe authority should hv a CSI like team in Johor and Klang valley that is available on call by police whenever there is accident involving heavy trucks and trailer. Investigate must also focus on mechanical and electrical condition of the vehicle which may contribute to knowledge of what kind of common failure occurs and introduce as mandatory inspections and prevention measure company owner needs to carry out per regular maintenance. Once a year inspection is total ineffective. Instead make it an offence if heavy vehicle fails to undergone routine maintenance at shorter period says 3 mths…
