2025 MINI Cooper S 5 Door gets official Malaysian price – 204 PS/300 Nm 2.0L turbo, RM293,888

Making its appearance at Auto Bavaria Ara Damansara earlier this week, the MINI Cooper S 5 Door has finally received its official Malaysian pricing. The still petrol-powered hot hatch retails at RM293,888, which is exactly as per estimates, inclusive of a two-year, unlimited-mileage warranty; opt for the four-year warranty and service package and this figure jumps to RM304,288.

The new F65 model joins the F66 3 Door in the current lineup, offering similar performance and specs, just with more doors and a steep RM14,000 price premium. Unlike the electric J01 Cooper SE, which is a clean-sheet redesign, this is more of a heavy facelift of the outgoing F55.

As such, the mechanicals remain identical, not least of which being the B48 2.0 litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine that produces slightly more power – 204 PS and 300 Nm of torque, an increase of 12 PS and 20 Nm over the old model.

All this is routed to the same seven-speed wet dual-clutch transmission, enabling the car to sprint from zero to 100 km/h in the same 6.8 seconds on its way to an identical top speed of 242 km/h. Fuel consumption is rated at between 6.3 and 6.8 litres per 100 km.

Standard kit includes adaptive LED headlights, matrix LED taillights (both with customisable light signatures), piano black exterior trim, exterior logo projection and 18-inch Slide Spoke two-tone alloy wheels. Inside, you get keyless entry and start, the MINI Digital Key Plus, a 3D-knitted dashboard covering, dual-zone climate control, manual seats upholstered in grey and black Vecsin faux leather (with blue inserts) and dashboard light pattern projectors.

In terms of tech, you’ll find a 9.4-inch OLED circular infotainment touchscreen running on the Android-based MINI Operating System 9, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, augmented reality navigation, a head-up display, a Qi wireless charger, park assist, a reversing assistant, a 360-degree camera with remote 3D view (via the MINI smartphone app) and a 12-speaker, 360-watt Harman Kardon surround sound system.

Unlike the 3 Door, the 5 Door comes as standard with the Driving Assistant Plus package, offering autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control with stop and go, lane centring assist, blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, traffic sign recognition and rear collision warning. This means you won’t have to pay for a subscription to activate the Level 2 semi-autonomous driving features.

The new MINI Cooper S is available in four colours – this particular unit’s Icy Sunshine Blue (replacing the 3 Door’s Ocean Wave Green) and Legend Grey paired with a white roof and door mirrors, and Chili Red and Nanuq White with a black roof.

The Chinese cars are pushing the japs and conti cars to go higher and higher. There is no control over the Chinese cars with different segment flavors coming into Malaysia. There should be at least some governance of this influx. somthing like, only proven car companies with 10 to 15 years of success stories should enter the market. With time, Malaysia will scare away the quality brands out of this country. The nation is going into a cardiac arrest.

On the one hand, you want a free market, and claim that P1 and P2 are overprotected. On the other, you seek protection from Chinese brands.

The market is not forcing you to buy. You decide. That’s the premise of a free and open market. Poor performing brands will fall off, and you’re left with brands that are trusted by the market.

        Make up your minds.
