Following the preview of the Omoda C9 SUV in September, it is now finally the official launch for the D-segment SUV under the Jaecoo brand, and this is priced at RM168,800 for the 2WD, and RM188,800 for the AWD; prices are on-the-road without insurance.
The early bird promotion for the C9 includes a 10-year, one-million km warranty on engine and suspension components, in addition to the standard seven-year, 150,000 km vehicle warranty, and this promotion is applicable to bookings made for the C9 until December 8.
To recap its brand positioning – in Malaysia, Jaecoo is positioned as a premium SUV brand, and the Omoda C9 is the most premium product from the Chery group so far in Malaysia, so this is being sold by Jaecoo Malaysia.
Measuring 4,775 mm long, 1,920 mm wide, 1,671 mm tall with a wheelbase of 2,800 mm, the C9 SUV has luggage capacity from 660 litres with its rear seats in place, expanding to 1,783 litres with the seats folded. Its size places it in the ballpark of the Chery Tiggo 8 Pro and the Mercedes-Benz GLC, as well as the Toyota Harrier that is possibly its closest competitor.
Two drivetrain variants for the C9 are on offer – 2WD and AWD, both featuring the 2.0 litre turbocharged petrol four-cylinder engine that outputs 261 PS and 400 Nm of torque. Drive is sent to the wheels through an eight-speed torque converter automatic transmission.
Key visual identifiers for the C9 include the diamond-matrix front air intake grille, along with its ‘Sigma’ daytime running lights (DRL) signature. Headlamps are adaptive LED units, accompanied by LED tail lamps, with an auto-sensing function for the tailgate.
Underneath, the C9 chassis gets MacPherson struts in front and a multi-link setup at the rear, supplemented by the Continuous Damping Control (CDC) adaptive suspension on the AWD which is a stand-out feature for the SUV segment in this price bracket.
Wheels are 20-inch multi-spoke alloys shod in 245/50R20 tyres, with a matching full-size spare; the 2WD gets brake calipers in silver, while the AWD get calipers in red. Driveline controls for the C9 2WD variant include three drive modes, while those of the C9 AWD get an additional four modes with an off-road focus.
Equipment on the AWD is comprised of features such as a Tesla-style front and rear push-button electric door release system, rhythmic ambient lighting, a combined 24.6-inch screen and a 14-speaker Sony audio system that has speakers in the driver’s headrest (eight speakers on the 2WD).
Air-conditioning is a three-zone setup, adding a three-cartridge fragrance system on the AWD, where the choice of scent can be selected from the infotainment touchscreen.
Also included are ventilated front seats, a leather-trimmed dashboard, shift paddles, head-up display, eight-way powered driver’s seat with memory for six positions (six-way adjustment on the 2WD), dashcam and a 540-degree surround view camera, an electric steering column (manual on the 2WD) and double-glazed front windows. The rear occupants get seats with a power recline function, and B-pillar air-conditioning vents.
Added to the AWD variant are the front door ambient light, air-conditioning vent ambient light, adaptive front lighting system and an electronic child safety lock.
Active assistance systems are standard across both variants, and include a Level 2.5 ADAS suite. These are comprised of adaptive cruise control, integrated cruise assist, traffic jam assist, AEB, blind spot detection, front collision warning, rear cross traffic alert, rear collision warning, emergency lane keeping, lane change assistant, lane departure prevention, active speed limiter, and front departure alert.
Other assistance functions include door opening warning, automatic headlamps, and driver monitoring with driver fatigue warning. Active safety features include ABS, ESP, brake assist, EBD, traction control, hill hold, hill start assist, hill descent control, multi-collision brake, tyre pressure monitoring and speed limit reminder. On the passive safety front, the C9 gets eight airbags.
The Omoda C9 is covered by a seven-year, 150,000 km warranty. Exterior colours are Carbon Crystal Black, Khaki White and a matte grey paint finish, the latter the first for a locally assembled vehicle in Malaysia (the C9 is assembled at Chery’s Shah Alam plant). Customer vehicle deliveries will commence in January 2025, says Jaecoo Malaysia.

Way more worth it than the BMW X4 and GLC Coupé with same amount of power, competition is great!!
Haiyaaa I know this is a Chinese brand but can they at least offer another interior colour other than this
$hitty ahh black?
What kaler you want?. Pink?
What about the service maintenance? No mention whatsoever, any form of free during warranty service, e.g. Labour and/or consumables, parts etc?
Today, Fri 3:30pm launch with official price, yet offer for the 10-years warranty upgrade ONLY for booking TILL 08-Dec, which only leaves 2-days!!?? Perhaps it’s only me but this doesn’t feel like a genuine offer gesture? RME
Just my guessing.. There will be big promote after 6 months. u can see how they work on omoda 5 and tiggo 8. Cheers
This was on display at the Glenmarie showroom on Monday. It looks superb. Huge amount of space and its road presence is brilliant. An extra RM3k for the matte colour is definitely worth it !
Haha..Toyota Harrier wannabe detected…better go with recond harrier rather than this ccp product…recond harrier no need 7 years warranty because proven able to survive more than 20 years…
Toyota arse licker alert !
Meaning in 2024 based on world car sales until October…there are over 8 millions Toyota “arse licker” ..fact is over 4x more than ccp car sales that mostly purchased by own citizen and fools like you…
Fyi, i am driving a conti with genuine DSG and far better than the copy cat DSG rename as DCT by ccp…
Dont bother explaining; 95% of the comments are from the sales guys. all going, “ooohha , how nice, better than this and that.” I bet some of these brothers have not even seen the car (some brand/models) in person or driven one. They will vanish once there is a problem with the car. They are like showgirls to attract the ignorant curious lookers! The real customers will still seek quality over the shiny looks, may it be Jap or Conti or korean.. Oh well… live and let live! peace!
They are not sale guys, they talk truth. The ones who talk bad about any other brands especially kimchi cars, that goes to salesmen where have been doing from many years till now. Btw, tbh, not all japanese cars are not good, but only honda and even mazda cx60 looks nicer and better but the rest of japanese cars are not really good, even new camry, can see quality looks cheap. So the question is that, will new toyota can last long? Especially toyota also got cheating scandals, even till now, still concerning about continuous toyota cheating scandal, many already knows that. So time will tell
Cannot afford Harrier just say so lah. Harrier is CBU Japan. Will last 20 years. No guarantees your Jaekoon brand will stay here for 10 yrs.
Afford or cannot afford, many people including myself won’t buy toyota. As there are still continuous toyota cheating scandals till now since last year, in which many not only here but everywhere are now concerning for buying future toyota. And how toyota can last longer than jaecoo as what you claimed. From what you said, it is already in the history, yes last time used to say this car brand not good than toyota but today is otherwise
This spec is far away better than my glc250!
that fugly logo failed
This china suv so far the only suv i would consider buying than Japanese suv. Great design, strong road presence, luxury interior and of course the 10 years warranty..peace of mind. Pakai sampai lunyai
saw two demo units on the road yesterday, very very good looking
Save the extra money from BMW X3, GLC etc for other stuff like phones, home renovation, servicing, petrol money, travel overseas. Is a good alternative while enjoying high spec car and other personal luxury treatment
