Prasarana, the operator of Rapid KL public transport, has announced that renewals of the My50 monthly pass will be temporarily suspended from December 23 till January 31, 2025 at all its customer service counters. The temporary suspension is to allow for system upgrades to support the growing use of the unlimited travel pass, the company said.
However, one can still purchase a new My50 pass at all counters. Prasarana says that users who still have remaining days in their existing My50 pass will have to use up the days first before buying a new pass. In other words, existing users can only buy a new pass after their current one expires.
This would be a change of routine for existing users, who are used to renewing their My50 pass before expiry (allowed up to seven days before), so do share this update with fellow users.
Perhaps this system upgrade is related to transport minister Anthony Loke’s announcement last month, when he said that from next year, My50 users will no longer be required to use their MyKad.
“Once the system integration process is complete, users will be able to use a Touch n Go card or access via their smartphone, using a QR code. These are the details we are working on,” he said, adding that the feedback from users is that the use of MyKad is inconvenient for public transport. Full story here.
