For 2025, the Yamaha Aerox Alpha has been launched in Indonesia, priced at 41.73 million rupiah (RM11,566), ex-Jakarta for the “Turbo” Ultimate variant. Meanwhile, in Malaysia, the 2024 Yamaha NVX, the local name for the Aerox, has a recommended retail price of RM9,998.
In Indonesia, there are four variants of the Yamaha Aerox – “Turbo” Ultimate, “Turbo” at 39.55 million rupiah (RM10,936), CyberCity at 33.99 million rupiah (RM9,402) and Standard at 29.9 million rupiah (RM8,270). The Standard Aerox Alpha will not enter the Malaysia market as it does not have ABS fitted, while the Turbo Ultimate, Turbo and CyberCity come standard with front wheel ABS with hydraulic disc brakes front and rear.
Like the Yamaha NVX 155 Turbo earlier seen testing on Malaysian roads, the Aerox Alpha comes with a new 155 cc, single-cylinder engine with variable valve actuation (VVA). New for the Aerox/NVX is Yamaha Electric CVT (YECVT) that gives a burst of acceleration similar to the sensation of a turbocharged engine.
Also new is two riding modes – Town Commuting for urban use and S Mode (Sport Touring) for sharper response and acceleration on the open road and traction control. There is also three gearbox modes which Yamaha calls Turbo Y-Shift – with low, medium and high settings – controlled by a thumb switch on the left handlebar pod that gives different levels of acceleration and deceleration.
In the cockpit, a new LCD display features three display modes – Standard, Dynamic and Sports – with auto-switching between light and dark modes depending on lighting conditions. The Aerox also comes with Yamaha Y-Connect for Bluetooth connectivity to the rider’s smartphone using the Yamaha Y-Connect app with Google Map turn-by-turn navigation for the Aerox Alpha Turbo variants.
Other riding conveniences include keyless start, engine stop-start and a USB-A charging port located inside the front cowl. There is also a 24.5-litre storage compartment under the seat while full LED lighting is fitted throughout, including the new design dual projector headlight.
The Aerox Alpha weighs 130 kg for the Turbo Ultimate and Turbo variants, while the CyberCity tips the scales at 127 kg. Seat height for the Aerox Alpha is set at 790 mm and 5.5-litres of fuel is carried in the tank.
Imo v nice step through or Maxi scooter, but the biggest downside of this scooter is probably the fuel capacity.
