The works ministry has announced that highways nationwide will be toll-free today and tomorrow – December 23-24 – for Christmas. The toll-free period for Class 1 private vehicles started at 12.01 am earlier and will end at 11.59 pm tomorrow.
Toll-free travel will be applicable to all highways except for toll plazas at our country’s southern border, namely the toll plazas at Bangunan Sultan Iskandar and Tanjung Kupang in Johor. The government is compensating highway concessionaires RM38 million for this initiative.
For those who are celebrating Christmas or enjoying the year-end holiday season by travelling back to the hometown, take a break if you’re nodding off. Ensure that your Touch n Go card has sufficient credit so as to not hold up traffic. LLM expects up to 2.55 million vehicles on the road this season, so drive safe. Also, take note of the Smartlanes on the PLUS.
