2025 Toyota Camry Glorious Edition launched in China – enhanced interior and kit; hybrid; from RM124k

GAC Toyota, the joint venture between GAC Group and Toyota, has unveiled a special edition of the ninth-generation Camry in China. Called the Glorious Edition, it retails from 202,800 yuan (about RM124k) and comes with a hybrid powertrain.

Key features of the Camry Glorious Edition include a Matte Grey exterior finish paired with blacked-out Toyota emblems and Camry lettering on the boot. There’s also a sporty body kit that adds a black grille, front splitter, rear diffuser as well as a lip spoiler, with 19-inch wheels completing the look.

Inside, the sedan is decked out with velvet and genuine leather upholstery, accompanied by a 64-colour ambient lighting system with an eye-catching pattern on the dashboard and door cards. A Dynaudio sound system is also part of the kit list along with dual 12.3-inch displays (instrument cluster and infotainment), a head-up display and a panoramic sunroof.

Toyota’s self-charging hybrid powertrain found in the Glorious Edition is a 2.0 litre naturally-aspirated inline-four petrol engine augmented by an electric motor for a total system output of 197 PS (194 hp or 145 kW) and 188 Nm of torque.

According to Chinese media outlets, sales of the ninth-generation Camry have been underwhelming unlike its predecessor. The introduction of the special edition is likely to spur interest in the sedan, which is facing stiff competition from local sedan offerings in China.

I went to see the new Camry at KLIMS 3 weeks ago. I was ao fascinated and surprised to find that the back aircon vent is a cheapo looking one. The door opener also using a plastic one! For a 249K car! I was speechless!

    Usual PT EV naysayer myths

    – After 36 months battery kosong
    – Burns at ungodly high rate
    – Resale value is 50% after 12 months
    – Real world range is scam, only <300km and only then in first year, after that habis
    – Zero NCAP stars. If they get 5 stars, it's a scam, beli punya
    – 99% of EV sales are scams, they all end up in that one open field they saw on one YouTube video

Yet Mercedes C class has to sell at RM180k and Camry at RM125k in China. Why ah, geniuses? Should be nothing to worry about right since EVs are a big scam and is completely useless, already selling for so many years in China. You mean 1.4b people are all idiots and we in Malaysia "did our own research" and is smarter?
