According to Headlightmag, Toyota has filed a trademark for the name ‘Hilux Travo’ with Thailand’s Department of Intellectual Property (DIP). This is expected to be used for the next generation of the pick-up truck, which will replace the current eighth-generation model that was first introduced in May 2015.
In certain markets, the Hilux comes with a name suffix. This is the case in Thailand where the eighth-generation model is known as the Hilux Revo, while the generation before that was called the Hilux Vigo.
The report also claims the upcoming Hilux Travo will make its global debut in Thailand in 2025. Preliminary details suggest the redesigned pick-up truck will get a completely new front and rear end, although the chassis and cabin structure are said to be carried over, albeit updated.
This approach is similar to what was done for the ninth-generation Camry, and the Hilux Travo is expected to continue on with the brand’s GD series of turbodiesel engines that are revised to meet Euro 5 and Euro 6 emission standards.
