Remember the ‘ketuk ketampi’ punishment from school days? For those who don’t, it’s basically squats with crossed hands pulling the ears, used as a punishment.
On new year’s eve, a group of 21 teenagers aged 14 to 17 were caught riding bicycles recklessly during a roadblock on KL’s Jalan Sultan Azlan Shah (formerly Jalan Ipoh, where Nissan’s showroom is), and the cops made the basikal lajak riders do ketuk ketampi on the spot.
KL JSPT chief Mohd Zamzuri Mohd Isa said the teens were riding modified bicycles that lacked safety features such as brakes, bells and lights. They were also riding dangerously and engaging in competitive behaviour. Their actions violated the Road Traffic Rules (Rule 42) LN 165/59, and their bikes could have been confiscated under Section 112 of the Road Transport Act 1987.
“However, a senior JSPT officer, together with a JPJ officer, opted to issue a stern warning and discipline the teens by requiring them to perform ketuk ketampi as a form of advocacy and deterrence,” Zamzuri added. The young offenders then shook hands with the officers and apologised. They were warned against further reckless behaviour and instructed to return home immediately.
“This approach serves as a warning to the teenagers involved, deterring them from repeating such offences. Advocacy efforts like this also help raise awareness and enhance young offenders’ understanding of road safety laws,” Zamzuri said.
“Parents and guardians must play a proactive role by closely monitoring their children to ensure they do not engage in activities that violate the law,” he added.

What’s happening to upholding the law.
Should have confiscated the bikes and issued summons to all the parents.
This is just indirectly telling the teens that law can be bent and it’s not a serious to break the law.
Hello..Hisham teh Poh teik will be laughing his way to the bank..surely another unfortunate driver will plough into these lajaks, one dark and lonely night..big mega bucks coming to the famous lawyer.
I better encourage my anak …become lawyer.
Pulis and those lajak bois are from the same Type M. Kita jaga kita
besok buat lagi.. takkan henti sampai mereka mati semua
I hope this punishment should not be the end of it.
Police should summon all of their parents to the police station.
Abam pulis, I thought we are friends. You won’t saman us right
That’s it ? This is a joke to them. People go to jail because of them. Need heavier punishment.
Police failure to summon their parents to pick up their kids is a miss opportunity this time.
Wasted.
Pisang berbuah banyak kali in Msia.
Tunggu !!
It’s not failure. It’s deliberately letting them go. You see our men taking out phones recording the boys? Don’t they have the same look? Kita jaga kita
Saman the parents lah. They choose to let their child do all these stupid things for what? Their actions and their mods are not just bringing danger to them, but to us as well. You warn them, as if they won’t do it again.
the future B40 generations that will end up as Mat Rempit.
Should just issue the needed summons / as per offence committed. Such leeway in bolehland merely serves to encourage more daring ventures in the future ! Likewise expecting discounts on summons – it’s a culture which needs to be nipped in the bud. Disappointing..
it’s all fun and games for these kids until they cause another road accident to others. Parents should be held accountable.
for drunk driver, all you need to do is to try and walk a straight line…. must easier than squat.
after whatever type of squatting, their legs simply felt tired and continue to basikal lajak after “regained” their energy the next day. this gen has a thick face as thick as China Great Wall!
the police should drive the police car, send the child back to each home, directly fine their parents, and confiscate their bike!!
Ini kalau sebat dgn rotan suku inci berkali2 pun kitorg x marah.
Mak bapak diorg kalo bising, sesah diorg plak pakai pembaris kayu kuning 1 meter tu.
What’s the point of doing this? Those kids still show laughing face while doing it. Doesn’t feel shame at all. The next day they still doing the same thing.
The power of our future generation and then probably their parents are ok with it too.
Ketuk ketampi doesnt work for these kids, strong legs from all the lajaks.
should’ve left them in balai and make parents pick them up the next day.
make them sign some surat akuan sumpah.
Good job. They are all future leaders, country must grow under their leadership
Fully agreed. These photos video will be archived to be used shown when the future leader did mischievous behaviour.
Not fair! Why only catch from one race? Where are the others?
Oh ya I forgot. They are good kids who obey their parents
Applied open canning to them the their parents!
Wat a joke! These kids will be in no time at it again.
Could have been confiscated? Which means never do anything lah…
As if such menial actions will change anything. They are laughing at the officer all the way home… Hahahaahahah
Dari flat 2 bilik 1 jamban
Dan adik beradik 10 orang. You wonder how the parents find space to make babies. No wonder these kids don’t stay at home
