Perodua sold 358,102 units in 2024, up 8.4%, sets all-time sales and production record – 44% market share

They’ve been extremely quiet in 2024, even by their low profile standards, but Perodua has now fired the big cannon. The 358,102 units registered last year is an all-time high for the market leader, surpassing the previous high mark of 330,325 units, recorded just in 2023. That’s an 8.4% increase.

Perodua’s sales is always limited by its production (basically, P2 sells whatever it can produce), so it’s no surprise that production also hit a record of 368,100 units in 2024. That’s 7.2% higher than the 343,400 units in 2023, the previous benchmark.

“We have expanded far beyond our installed capacity of 320,000 units, showcasing dynamic synchronisation in meeting our shared objectives. This achievement shows our true potential and will be the benchmark for the industry in the years to come,” said Perodua president and CEO Datuk Seri Zainal Abidin Ahmad.

“This achievement also proves that quality and quantity can move hand in hand if all communicate and coordinate well. In this regard, we wish to thank our staff for going above and beyond what we believe we can do,” he added.

Perodua estimates Malaysia’s total industry volume to be over 814,000 units for 2024, and based on that, the company owns 44% of the pie. “In fact, based on the same numbers, we estimate that Perodua was the main growth driver last year,” Zainal said. P2’s market share has been above 40% for some time now, but is the needle inching towards half?

Here are some other green figures just for the record. Year-on-year, Q4 2024’s 97,741 units is an increase of 0.7% from the 97,098 sold in the same quarter of 2023. Last month’s sales of 32,202 units is 3.2% up, y-o-y. As for after sales, Perodua saw a 9.7% higher intake in 2024, from 3.1 to 3.4 million.

“We believe 2025 will offer both new challenges and opportunities for us, as well as increased competition from newer automotive brands in the market,” Zainal said.

One such new challenge is the firm’s first ever EV, developed in-house as foreign partner Daihatsu does not have a suitable donor car. On a tight, publicly announced deadline by the government too. Previewed by the eMO-II concept from KLIMS 2024, the production EV is set to debut in the final quarter of this year, priced between RM50,000 and RM90,000. Full details on the Perodua EV here.

When the cheapest cars are getting more in liew of more expensive car brands, it means people are getting poorer. There is something seriously wrong with this country not seen in the past 60 years.

Perodua is selling close to 30,000 vehicles monthly.
With such blockbuster support from P2 fanboys,P2 don’t seem able to reciprocate in kindness.
Instead it is the most kedekut distributor in Bolehland.
Look at the kenching manis Bezza fiasco. After a huge uproar about sugar in the new Bezza, which is a lemon,it acted very late.
      Perodua …The most kedekut,kiamsiap distributor in 2025.

P1 factory too busy retooling for Emas EV production. P2 will need to go somewhere else. I heard their home country Indonesia have spare capacity in Nusantara.

They cannot launch it coz such car never existed in Daihatsu or Toyota range of cars. How can they rebadge something that never existed? Same goes for Emo. It is just syiok sendiri plastic model.
