Honda Malaysia sold 81,600 units in 2024, up 2% – maintains No.1 non-national passenger vehicle spot

Honda Malaysia (HM) sold 81,600 units in 2024, a result that it announced at today’s 2025 Honda Civic facelift launch.

As Honda doesn’t sell commercial vehicles and pick-up trucks, all of those are passenger vehicles – as such, the brand has maintained its No.1 spot in the non-national passenger vehicle segment, a position it has maintained for 11 consecutive years.

That result puts Honda’s passenger vehicle sales ahead of Toyota’s – the latter’s commercial vehicle sales puts it at No.1 non-national overall and No.3 behind national makes Perodua and Proton.

HM did not elaborate, but according to our records, Honda sold 80,027 units in 2023, which means that 2024 sales are 2% higher. Since this is the launch of the Civic, the company shared that the desirable model commands a whopping 81% share of the non-national C-segment sedan pie. Rivals would include the Toyota Corolla and Mazda 3.

Yesterday only we saw that Toyota outsells Honda taking the 3rd top selling brand in Malaysia.

Now today Honda become top selling passenger cars in Malaysia.

All these ranking doesn’t matter cause it will be soon taken over by those better valued China cars if they play their cards right and maintain proper service for clients.

Once upon a time when all the European and American cars came into our market, their sales volume surge and people made the same comment like you claim they are better value.. And what happened after that? Everyone went back to Japanese again after learning the hard lesson. Similar pattern when the Koreans came into our market and now they are nearly non-existent.

Remain to be seen, history may repeat itself..

We all know Honda is #2 among non-national car brands.
No need to try so hard on the wording to be #1

That non-national top spot actually went to Toyota.

Honda only top non-national passenger car segment.
