PLUS Malaysia has announced that it will be commencing trials of the Smartlane function on Lingkaran Putrajaya on the ELITE Highway, from KM P3.0 to KM P4.0, that is in the direction heading towards Putrajaya.
Trial basis operation of the Smartlane in this section will take effect from today, January 14 to February 1, 2025, Mondays to Fridays from 7am to 9am.
As before, SmartLane activation means that the emergency lane on a given stretch of highway is open for use during designated periods of time to help smoothen the flow of traffic during times of congestion, such as rush hours periods or during festive seasons.
However, use of the Smartlane is meant only for light vehicles, or those under Class 1 which are private vehicles such as cars, SUVs and MPVs, motorcycles, as defined by the Malaysian highway authority (LLM). As such, trucks, lorries and buses are not permitted to use the lane.

Didn’t they just cancelled this?!
Frankly speaking, Smartlane is not a good idea. The emergency lane is needed for any emergency. If a vehicle breaks down or needs to stop in the Smartlane zone, then those driving at speed in the Smartlane may crash into it
“Smartlane” = the worst thing ever for road safety
I’ve personally seen buses and lorries using the Smartlane. It’s very dangerous. I don’t think so drivers know the requirements. You can just put up the notice board along the highway and expect drivers to be able to read in entirety when they are driving fast
