NexV Manufacturing (NexV) and Global NEV Technology (GNEV) have inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to explore the CKD assembly of commercial EVs, specifically a GNEV branded electric van by China’s Wuling. Once a definitive agreement is signed (target is by mid-February), the collaboration could see its first EV van roll out in Q1 2026.
“This MoU represents a significant step forward in our mission towards developing Malaysia’s green technology transition. By combining our strengths, we aim to set a new benchmark for NEV assembly and manufacturing in the region,” said Lim Kwee Shyan, CEO of NexV.
“We are excited about the potential of this partnership, and we believe this collaboration will not only bring innovative NEV solutions to the market but also contribute to Malaysia’s vision of becoming a regional hub for sustainable technology,” said Andrew Thu Pong Fan, executive director of GNEV.
NexV is a joint venture between glove manufacturer Careplus Group and the GoAuto Group. Its NEV (new energy vehicle, a term for green vehicles in China) manufacturing plant in Chembong, Negeri Sembilan, is slated to commence operations in Q2 2025. The factory has assembly deals with Neta (which is under GoAuto) and Pekema, which is distributing the Dongfeng Box EV.
Last month, Ingress Corporation and GNEV signed an MoU to collaborate on the potential importation, assembly and distributorship of commercial electric vehicles by Wuling, for both the Malaysian market and exports.
