Puspakom is conducting an internal investigation into an incident in a Puspakom centre in Johor Baru, where a staff member of the inspection centre was slapped by a customer, reported Bernama.
The investigation found that the customer had committed an act of violence when the commercial vehicle that he brought for inspection had failed the brake test during the periodic inspection, said Puspakom CEO Mahmood Razak Bahman.
“The failure prompted the suspect to confront the involved Puspakom vehicle inspector, then suddenly attacked him,” Mahmood said in a statement. Any form of violence against Puspakom staff due to failure in inspections is completely unacceptable as the inspection is an indication that the vehicle is not safe for use on the road, he added.
“Customers who receive inspection results like this should take heed and immediately repair the condition of their vehicles for their own safety and that of other road users, instead of acting aggressively towards our staff,” Mahmood said.
As a result, measures for tighter security are being reviewed to prevent the recurrence of such incidents, said the Puspakom CEO. “Safety in the workplace for staff is our priority, and we are committed to enforcing this policy without exception. We will not tolerate such behaviour, and will cooperate with the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) to ensure that the perpetrator receives appropriate consequences,” he said.
Johor Baru Selatan district police chief ACP Raub Selamat said his team received the video through a link on X (formerly Twitter), and the police confirmed that a circulating video showed a man slapping a Puspakom staff member in Taman Daya, Johor Baru, with the incident occurring on November 18.

Must punish the lorry driver!
I hope the police will take action. There is no place for violent conduct anywhere.
Must have paid under but then inspector didn’t find the eagle symbol etc. which is why he is furious.
maybe the guy already went to workshop to tweak brake twice but does not employ runner that’s why he failed the test three times in a row so he got really angry.
Puspakom CEO should check why the puspakom site manager did not make police report on the same day ? this is criminal intimidation against your staff in your premise. it’s a shame that it need CEO to intervene in such case. moreover, police only get to know of it from social media not police report !!! Wake up puspakom management !!!
I recommend you go to the branch as get the underlying story… it will surprise you. But then again, maybe not.
My guess is bribe had being given beforehand yet the guy failed his vehicle. Must have slapped him out of betrayal.
With an increase of mentally unstable people, puspakom better add more security personnel.
