Selangor JPJ conducts surprise checks on vehicles cleared by Puspakom; emphasis on tyre inspections

The Selangor road transport department (JPJ) has increased operations upon vehicles checked by Puspakom by conducting random physical inspections including the checking of tyres, brakes and lights among other components, News Straits Times reported.

This ramping up of operations has found 10 heavy vehicles to have failed the surprise inspections since the start of Ops Puspakom late last year, said JPJ Selangor state director Azrin Borhan. “Selangor JPJ places significant emphasis on tyre inspections this time. When public vehicles or lorries undergo inspection at Puspakom, [Selangor JPJ will] conduct a second inspection,” he said.

Vehicles which are stopped randomly for inspections will be checked for tyres, brake lights and other aspects, and vehicles which do not meet the specified standards will be failed, and will be required to have rectified the issues or weaknesses found before they undergo another Puspakom inspection, the JPJ Selangor state director said.

Statistics of vehicles failing tests are still under control, and if a vehicle has bald tyres or missing specifications, it would be immediately prohibited from operating, Azrin said.

Meanwhile, JPJ Selangor has taken action against 25 buses out of 1,701 vehicles inspected, with 34 offences recorded. The offences found were continuous driving in the right-hand-side lane, worn-out tyres, cracked windshields, a lack of secondary driver, and other offences. The department issued 16 summonses, eight investigation notices, five vehicles prohibition notices, and five inspection directives.

In conjunction with the Chinese New Year festive season, JPJ Selangor also conducted vehicle safety inspections at bus terminals, with 356 buses having been inspected for brakes, tyres, lights, reflectors, and documentation, among other aspects, Azrin said.

And worst still,JPJ has a bunch of blacksheep allowing rotten lorries off the hook during roadblocks.
So,corruption is still rampant eventho PMX has vowed to tackle it.Just pathetic and disgusting, these bunch of corrupted clowns.
