KTM Komuter women’s-only coach reinstated today

KTM has announced that from today, February 13, its Komuter service in the Klang Valley will reinstate women’s-only coaches after a small break over the Thaipusam period.

As a reminder, the women’s-only coaches are exclusively for females and no men are allowed in them. Like on the MRT and LRT, KTM Komuter women’s coaches are in the middle of the train – coaches C and D for six-car trains and coach B for three-car trains. There are pink markings and signs to mark out the special zone.

Over at Rapid Rail, they’ve implemented the women’s coach on the MRT Kajang Line (from September 2023), MRT Putrajaya Line (from April 2024) and most recently, the LRT Ampang/Sri Petaling Line.

Rapid reminds ladies via the train PA to first utilise the women’s coach and leave room for the other passengers in the normal coaches, but I’ve seen many ignoring this. Not sure how it’s like at the Komuter, but ladies now have their special space so it’s time for new habits.
