Puspakom will no longer allow multiple slot bookings for the same number plate. This is to weed out middlemen and ‘runners’ who have been found to sell inspection appointment slots for a profit. This is according to a statement by transport minister Anthony Loke today, following a meeting with JPJ, APAD and Puspakom.
For instance, if a vehicle with the number plate ABC 123 books four inspection slots on the same day, only one slot will be allowed. Also, Puspakom will improve on the booking system by freezing the original slot if it is postponed to another day. The move is to prevent the original slot from being misused or sold to another party.
The vehicle inspection company’s branches have been seeing long queues of late, and the statement explains that this is partly due to the suspension of 20 staff since the second week of January, following an integrity operations with the Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission (SPRM).
As such, to alleviate the congestion, all Puspakom branches nationwide except for Langkawi and Pekan will operate for 12 hours throughout March, an increase of four hours a day. Also, all outlets except for Langkawi and Pekan will be open on Saturdays this month. These moves will add capacity to 15,500 vehicles a day, up by 2,000 units.

Very interesting situation. After 20 puspakom staff suspension, now starts to have congestion. More rigorous checking or purposely work slow? If the former then good la. No more simply pass vehicle inspection.
