The Proton eMas 7 has been launched in Nepal following the start of exports of the electric vehicle (EV) earlier this month. The brand’s authorised distributor in Nepal is Jagdamba Motors, which currently operates three dealerships and plans to have 12 nationwide by the end of this year. As mentioned previously, the eMas 7 is exported from Malaysia after first being fully imported (CBU) from China, at least for now.
The eMas 7 variant line-up mirrors that of Malaysia, with the base Prime priced at 5.699 million Nepalese rupees (about RM183k) and the top-spec Premium at NPR6.799 million (RM219k). For comparison, the EV in Malaysia is RM105,800 and RM119,800 respectively.
In terms of specifications, the electric SUV is identical to what we have here. Both variants come with Geely’s Aegis short blade lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery, with the Prime having an energy capacity of 49.52 kWh while the Premium gets a 60.22-kWh unit.
Power is sent to a front electric motor rated at 218 PS (215 hp or 160 kW) and 320 Nm of torque, enabling a top speed of 175 km/h. The 0-100 km/h time is 6.9 seconds for the Prime and 7.1 seconds for the Premium.
AC charging is at a peak of 11 kW for both, while DC fast charging is capped at 80 kW for the Prime and 100 kW for the Premium – a 30-80% state of charge is reached in 20 minutes. Fully charged, the Prime offers up to 345 km of range following the WLTP standard, while the Premium provides up to 410 km.
The Prime is equipped with 18-inch wheels, LED headlamps, a 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster, leatherette seat upholstery, a powered driver’s seat, keyless entry and start, six speakers, a 15.4-inch infotainment touchscreen and six airbags.
The Premium builds upon the Prime by gaining 19-inch wheels, a panoramic sunroof, a powered tailgate, active grille shutter, memory function for the driver’s seat, a powered front passenger seat, ventilated front seats, 256-colour ambient lighting, a windshield-projected head-up display and a 16-speaker sound system.
The driver assistance systems are shared across the range and includes adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, forward and rear collision warning, lane departure warning and prevention, emergency lane keep assist, rear cross traffic alert and lead vehicle departure alert.
Curiously, the eMas 7 in Nepal is available in an extra colour called Moyu Black for a total of six options, with the others being the same as what we get: Lithium White, Turquoise Green, Slate Grey, Quartz Rose and Platinum Silver. A six-year, 150,000-km manufacturer warranty comes standard, while the battery and EV parts are covered by a separate eight-year, 160,000-km warranty.
