Jetour Dashing Malaysian launch confirmed for April 9

Finally, we have a date. The Jetour Dashing will be launched in Malaysia on April 9. Jetour Auto Malaysia has been posting up daily countdown style posts on social media, and all of it points to the launch this Wednesday. Before this, we were told Q1 2025, before they shifted it to sometime in April. Finally.

If you’ve been hearing about Jetour for some time now, it’s because the brand made its debut way back in May 2024 at last year’s Malaysia Autoshow, when the Dashing was earmarked as Jetour’s launch model.

Established in 2018, Jetour is a brand under the Chery umbrella, but it operates independently of Chery across the globe, and this is also the case in Malaysia. Separate team, separate office, unlike Jaecoo Malaysia, which is closely linked to the mothership.

At 4,590 mm long and 1,900 mm wide, the Dashing is a five-seat SUV sized between a Honda CR-V (4,691 mm) and Toyota Corolla Cross (4,460 mm). Its wheelbase of 2,720 mm is actually 20 mm longer than the CR-V’s, so it has size to go with the bold design. Under the hood is a 1.5-litre turbo-four with 156 PS and 230 Nm of torque from 1,750 to 4,000 rpm. Drive is sent to the front wheels via a six-speed dual-clutch transmission.

At the May 2024 preview, two variants were announced – Prime and Signature. Available kit include 19-inch alloys, LED lights all round, powered tailgate, remote engine start, leather, six-way powered driver’s seat, 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, 10.25-inch central touchscreen with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, wireless charger and automatic air-con with rear vents and particulate filter.

Kit reserved for the Signature include a panoramic sunroof, four-way powered front passenger seat, ambient lighting, lane change assist, blind spot monitoring, lane change warning, rear cross traffic alert and a 360-degree camera.

However, this was some time ago and variants/specs might have changed along the way – stay tuned for the launch, where the all-important pricing will be out. The initial batch is CBU imported from China, with CKD local assembly taking over in May-June. What do you think of the Jetour Dashing’s looks and package?
