Roslan Abdullah steps down from Proton after 5 years – Ainol Azmil appointed covering deputy CEO

Proton has announced that it has named Ainol Azmil as covering deputy chief executive officer effective June 10, taking over responsibilities of the role from Roslan Abdullah who steps down after taking on the position in January 2022.

In addition to his new role as covering deputy CEO, Ainol will continue to serve his existing portfolio in corporate strategy and group technical procurement with the company, and report directly to Proton CEO Li Chunrong.

“Proton welcomes Ainol Azmil to the role of covering Deputy Chief Executive Officer. We are confident in his ability to take on this temporary appointment. At the same time, Proton would like to convey utmost gratitude to Roslan Abdullah for his contribution to the company and we wish him well in his future undertakings,” Proton CEO Li Chunrong said in a statement.

Roslan joined Proton on June 1, 2020 as vice president of sales and marketing at Proton as well as CEO of Proton Edar, after his departure from Honda Malaysia.

Roslan was then appointed deputy CEO of Proton in January 2022, succeeding Datuk Radzaif Mohamed. In his time with the company, Roslan helped Proton reinforce its position in the Malaysian market as well as enter the EV segment with its first EV product, the eMas 7.

The truth is out….enough of protection of the DRB bunch of dealers who refused to lower prices by 30%.
Dr Li said enough is enough.Out goes the Roslan dude.
There is a fall out, definitely. If the Roslan dude is performing well, why terminate him? Top performers, have contracts extended well beyond retirement age.

Perhaps non performing. But if that’s the case, CEO Li Chunrong should also jump on the same ship.

Proton has been with Geely for almost a decade. Should have been able to produce 200k cars a year now including for export. Proton remains as jaguh kampung.

  • Apa sumbangan CEO? CEO kualiti macam ni di syarikat swasta bukan saja tak akan dipecat malah mungkin tak ada org nak ambil pun kecuali sesetengah syarikat drp kroni yg sama.
