Michelin to become official tyre supplier to FIM Superbike World Championship – from 2027 until 2031

Michelin has announced that it will become the official tyre supplier to the FIM Superbike World Championship (WorldSBK) beginning from the 2027 season, and it will do so for all categories of the production-based motorcycle racing series, comprised of WorldSBK, WorldSSP, World Sportbike, and the Women’s Circuit Racing World Championship (WorldWCR).

At present, Italian tyre manufacturer Pirelli supplies the World Superbike Championship, and will do so until the end of 2026, after which Michelin will take over as the official tyre supplier through to 2031.

The French tyre manufacturer currently supplies the MotoGP series, and will do so until the end of the 2026 MotoGP season, MotoGP announced in March this year. From 2027, the prototype-based motorcycle racing series will be supplied by Pirelli, in effect exchanging roles with Michelin as the French firm goes to supply WorldSBK.

“We are very pleased to be able to commit to a world-class motorcycle racing championship starting in 2027. The WorldSBK offers an ideal environment to bring our technologies even closer to those used by all riders, whether on the track or on the road,” said director of Michelin Motorsport Matthieu Bonardel in a statement.

In terms of road-homologated motorcycle products, in April 2024 Michelin Malaysia introduced the Power 6 sport tyre, the Power GP 2 sports/trackday tyre and the Anakee Road tyre for adventure motorcycles with a 90:10 road usage bias.
