2025 Aston Martin Vantage S – 680 PS/800 Nm 4.0L twin-turbo V8, 0-100 km/h 3.4 secs, increased agility

This is the 2025 Aston Martin Vantage S, a more focused version of the 2024-facelift Aston Martin Vantage that the world will see in the flesh this weekend at the Goodwood Festival of Speed ahead of first deliveries in this year’s fourth quarter. There will be Coupe and Roadster versions.

The AMG-sourced 4.0 litre twin-turbo V8’s 800 Nm of torque is unchanged, and power has jumped by only 15 PS (just 2.3% up) to 680 PS, so the 3.4-second century sprint time and 325 km/h top speed remain. But that’s not the main point, for the Vantage S focuses on increasing agility and driver engagement.

The throttle pedal’s weight and response have been calibrated: “By offering a resistance matched to a drive-by-wire throttle map bespoke to ‘S’, and tuned for each of the Drive Modes, Vantage S delivers an even greater sense of connection with all controls working in harmony,” the carmaker says, adding that the launch control system has also been optimised.

Also fettled with are the suspension hardware, powertrain mounts and control software. The Bilstein DTX adaptive dampers are said to now deliver better front-end feel and response, while the rear spring aid and transmission mounts have been made less stiff to respectively improve low-speed ride and refinement.

The rear subframe is now mounted directly to the body instead of rubber bushes, improving directness and steering connection, while the suspension’s camber, toe and caster have been “finessed” to sharpen things further. This should be one heck of a handler.

The Vantage S sports new centrally-mounted bonnet vents (functional) finished in either gloss black or carbon fibre. Discreet hand-made ‘S’ badging features on the front fenders while a full-width decklid spoiler increases rear downforce by 44 kg at Vmax, contributing to the overall 111 kg of downforce at Vmax. The remaining 67 kg come from further underbody updates, including a new front airdam and front venturi vanes.

Buyers can specify 21-inch Y-spoke wheels in satin black with a red wheel graphic, which hide bronze brake callipers. Inside, you’ll find Alcantara and leather with satin twill carbon fibre inlays, plus colour-matched and embroidered ‘S’ logos on the seat shoulders, and the Aston Martin wings embroidered onto the headrests. The interior contains almost 2,500 individual stitches and over 16 metres of thread.

The knurled metal drive mode rotary knob can be had in either a red or silver anodised finish, and this is colour-matched to the seat belt, contrast welt, contrast stitch and headrest embroidery. Customers can also specify an Inspire Sport interior (with either full semi-aniline leather or semi-aniline leather and Alcantara, monotone or duotone) with diminishing chevron quilting, surrounded by placed perforations.
