Lorry, express bus operators with highest number of unpaid summonses pay up, RM6.2 mil collected – JPJ

Following the public reveal exercise carried out by the transport ministry and road transport department (JPJ) on June 25, the 28 companies listed by the JPJ to have the highest number of outstanding summonses have settled 34,371 summonses amounting to RM6.2 million, Bernama reports.

According to JPJ director-general Datuk Aedy Fadly Ramli, the companies, comprising 11 commercial goods companies and 17 bus operators, had reached out to the department after transport minister Anthony Loke gave them a two-week grace period from June 25 to settle their outstanding summonses.

He thanked the companies that cooperated, but added that there were others who have yet to settle their summonses. He said the department would give them a grace period of a month starting from July 9 for them to do so.

“If it remains unsettled, the JPJ will blacklist the vehicles under the companies. There are those that we have already blacklisted as they did not respond to us,” he said.

Aedy Fadly said that commercial goods companies and bus operators are eligible for the RM150 compound rate being applied to all vehicles issued with AWAS summonses. “Companies with such summonses qualify for the same offer, and we have announced on July 1 that the offer is extended to Dec 31 for three categories, the AWAS from October 2018 till now, Notice 114 (interview notice) and Notice 115 (request for driver details) starting from 2023,” he stated.

After pay up, means JPJ is happy? Not taking actions despite their delays and offences? If like that, will they learn?

So the purpose of Loke enforcement is get them to pay up the samans rather than implement real changes to ensure better safety. Again with him it just comes down to Money, Money, Money, as with his never ending fancy plate sales. If this is Pakatan idea of road safety its an utter disappointment.
