The Geely EX5, known in China as the Geely Galaxy E5, continues its movement into Asian markets, with Nepal being the latest country to introduce the all-electric SUV. It was reported that LRR Motors, an importer and distributor that also handles Seres and Changan, will bring in two versions of the EX5.
Similar to Thailand, Indonesia and Vietnam, where it is already being sold, the EX5 will be available in Nepal in Pro and Max right-hand drive variant forms, with the Pro going for 5.8 million Nepalese rupees (RM174,800) and the Max, at NPR 6.8 million (RM204,910).
This puts the EX5 directly in competition in terms of pricing to its twin, the Proton eMas 7, which entered the Nepalese market in March this year. In Nepal, the eMas 7 Prime is priced at NPR 5.699 million (RM171,500), while the top-spec Premium goes for NPR 6.799 million (RM204,800), which are of course considerably higher than their Malaysian prices of RM105,800 and RM119,800 respectively.
Both the EX5 and eMas 7 are made in China, but the former goes into Nepal directly, while the Proton is presently routed via Malaysia, at least until CKD production starts in Tanjung Malim.
As it is in other markets that it is sold in, the EX5 in Nepal is powered by a single 218 PS (215 hp, or 160 kW) and 320 Nm electric motor that propels the SUV from 0-100 km/h in 6.9 seconds, and on to a top speed of 175 km/h.
Like in Thailand, both variants will be equipped with a 60.22 kWh Aegis short blade lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery, which is said to be offer up to a claimed 430 km of WLTP-rated travel on a single charge. Of note it the fact that while slightly pricier than the eMas 7 Prime, the EX5 Pro has a higher capacity battery compared to the Prime, which is equipped with a 49.52 kWh unit and is good for 345 km of WLTP range.
Otherwise, kit is identical to that found in other markets, with a 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster, a 15.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system, Qi wireless charging, a panoramic sunroof, a head-up display and a 16-speaker Flyme Audio sound system. Similar to Thailand, a total of five exterior colours are offered, these being Snowy White, Frost Grey, Carbon Black, Moonlight Silver and Turquoise Green.

Looking to sell your car? Sell it with Carro.
why?
Macam kena tikam dari belakang.
Geely has every right to do so.
Hahaha.. Bangang.
So call to promote Proton on SEA market. Last last kena game
Just kick Geely off from Proton. Stop selling X70, X50, X90, eMAs & S70. We Malaysian wants maruah. Proton just need to sell Preve & Exora. We Malaysian fully support Saga, Persona, Preve & Exora.
As new gen i don’t like mpv, hatchback cars
whatttttttttt?
Just like Veloz – Elsa, Rush – Arus selling at the same time.
Nothing for cemburu
There are differences in specification and price gap of RM20K. This one only logo different with same price. Geely not making enough out of Proton and DRB is not pumping in more money as there are basically very little R&D left in Proton. So bulk of money, resources and effort are done by Geely in China itself.
those are selling at different price bracket
I think u don’t understand, geely specifically said they let Proton to handle the ASEAN n right hand drive market. So geely just uturn their decision n open themselves for Proton coz lotus
so in the both proton and geely go on price war. why not just pull the resources together?
what kind of price war here?
is Geely cheaper than Proton?
do you mean the Guru Insurance Agent cannot sell with the Junior Insurance Agent? It’s the business hierarchy, orang bawah profit low.
proton supply chain too arrogant and always run back to govt put political pressure on geely led proton for protection. last last geely go in alone without proton supply chain… automotive industry is a competition of supply chain efficiency. instead proton should promote and encourage it’s supply chain to meet geely requirements and cost structure. join their supply chain to keep proton relevant
Somebody skipped the board meeting and didn’t read the minutes? LOL
Just a regular Tuesday at Geely’s
LoL… You all still think Geely has any intention to grow Proton internationally? They never had.
They simply using govt money to do the RHD and other development needed for their cars to sell overseas.
U got it the other way round buddy, Geely tech brought proton out of stone age, but Proton continues ihas too much deadweights in the organisation.
Either stupid or tikam belakang. Waste of resources. If geely also enter with the same price, why bother selling emas there? If it’s different price then it’s a different story.
what’s the problem? even subaru brz and toyota 86 can sell in same market with same price, toyota supra and bmw z4 also can compete together, so why not proton n geely?
