Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani has been appointed the new ministry of investment, trade and industry (MITI) minister, succeeding Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz, whose senatorship ended on December 2.
His appointment was announced by prime minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim earlier this evening as part of a cabinet reshuffle, which saw several portfolio changes.
Prior to his current appointment, Johari was the minister of plantation and commodities, a position he has held since 2023. Filling his position in the ministry is Datuk Seri Dr Noraini Ahmad.
Also appointed today was a new economy minister, with Akmal Nasrullah Mohd Nasir moving into the position from his previous posting as deputy minister of energy transition and water transformation. He fills the position vacated by Rafizi Ramli, who resigned from his position in May this year.
Elsewhere, Liew Chin Tong was named the new deputy finance minister, moving from MITI, while Bayan Baru MP Sim Tze Tzin has been appointed as MITI deputy minister.

Oh…..this Akmal more refined n polished,with elegant protocols…give a try.
Anyway, this is just to fill the gap for the next 18 months.
Good to see I am not the only one surprised somehow the PM think Akmal Saleh is fit as minister before realizing it’s really Akmal Nasir who’s been appointed.
that Akmal become the bad guy but get nothing in return. kena swipe left after all the hard work.
