Rapid Bus has announced that beginning January 16, 16 MRT feeder routes and three standard Rapid KL routes (representing 7% of Rapid KL’s 281 bus routes) will be fully converted to the Rapid KL On-Demand service, due to low daily passenger numbers.
According to acting CEO Ku Jamil Zakaria, the decision was data-driven, based on findings from the Demand-Led Bus Network Study, a comprehensive review of actual passenger usage patterns initiated in mid-2024.
The Rapid KL On-Demand service can be booked via the Rapid On-Demand app (download for iOS | download for Android). See the new routes below.

So is anyone ever going to use the data to find out which moron approved getting double decker buses and running them on low traffic routes? Come on lah this isn’t rocket science. What is needed is higher frequency lower capacity vehicles that follow a timetable so people can actually rely on it. Not to mention the fact that smaller buses/vans can navigate routes in older tamans that the huge buses can’t.
This crap started with Intrakota in the late 90’s and now 30 years later they still can’t work out why Bas Mini and the other independent bus companies like Selangor omnibus/srijaya/Metrobus all did better. Just so that 1 or 2 cronies can survive by sitting on their bums and not have to rub 2 neurons together if they have them in the first place.
the reason is that drivers are in short supply nowadays . if they change to smaller vehicles then need to hire more drivers which will have more manpower cost then how are the cronies going to make money
