The Land Rover Discovery is an executive-segment SUV for buyers who need seven seats, a diesel engine and a conventional automatic transmission in one package. In Malaysia, the L462-generation Discovery is priced from RM729,800, with the range centred on the HSE Td6 and its 2,993 cc, 258 hp diesel engine.

There is no 2026-specific Discovery update in the current model news, so the Malaysian line-up carries on unchanged as a single HSE Td6 variant. The L462 generation dates back to 2018, while the most relevant recent direction is JLR’s plan to reinvent Discovery as a family adventure model and keep it clear of Defender overlap. For now, the showroom car remains the seven-seat diesel automatic.

The Discovery’s case is specific rather than broad. It is a seven-seat diesel executive SUV, and that alone narrows the field. But it is expensive: it costs more than the BMW X7, Porsche Cayenne, Volkswagen Touareg, Audi Q8 e-tron and Mazda CX-80 listed in the same class, and only sits slightly below the BMW X6.
