Land Rover Discovery Sport 2.2L SD4 pricing revealed – RM450k; RM30k more than petrol-powered version

Land Rover Discovery Sport_Showroom_2

Land Rover Malaysia has officially revealed the pricing of the Discovery Sport 2.2L SD4, the diesel-powered version of the SUV, which retails at RM450,000.

The diesel variant was announced alongside the 2.0L Si4 petrol back in August last year, but its pricing was available on request only at the time. With this reveal, the diesel Discovery Sport is effectively RM30,000 more than the petrol version, which is priced at RM420,000.

Under the hood, the diesel Discovery Sport employs a 2.2 litre four-cylinder turbodiesel engine that provides 190 PS at 3,500 rpm and 420 Nm of torque at 1,750 rpm. Compared to the 2.0 litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol, the mill has 80 Nm more torque but is at a 50 PS disadvantage.

Regardless, both variants employ a ZF-sourced 9HP48 nine-speed automatic transmission, controlled through a rotary knob. Additionally, the carmaker’s Terrain Response System is also available, along with an all-wheel drive system and Hill Descent Control.

In terms of equipment, the diesel variant of the 5+2 seater SUV is identical its petrol sibling. Highlights include eight-way power seats, eight-inch colour touchscreen infotainment system, climate control, leather upholstery, keyless entry and start, along with navigation and multimedia functions.

Keep in mind that all the prices mentioned here are excluding road tax, registration and insurance. However, it is inclusive of a five-year/150,000 km warranty, five-year/80,000 km free scheduled maintenance and three years roadside assistance. Land Rover Malaysia is also offering a free instalment plan of up to 12 months or a cash rebate for the Discovery Sport.

Same case with Vellfire/Alphard fancy aftermarket bumper mods in MY. Not because these van pipu love to upgade their bumpers, but they have no choice (or maybe kiamsiap) since the OEM bumpers are soo damn expensive – hence have to settle for aftermarket cheap2 wan after accident.

The new 2.0 diesel is really a better engine than this old relic and JLR Malaysia is charging an arm for it…just like all their other vehicles offered here in Bolehland…the boycott continues.

Why would anyone buy this car over an XC90 or an X540e? Both vehicles are much bigger, more luxuriousmand carry far superior brand presence.

I really don’t see how this product, with such pricing, is competitive.

Crazy prices. in UK, Land Rover is considered as pariah car. Don’t mistake it to Range Rover please. Land Rover in the UK is so low class, even all the car magazines label it as the most problematic car around and the No 1 highest claims by Warranty Direct UK.

But in Malaysia, the car is sold for RM430k. Ridiculous. People rather buy a X5 Hybrid Plug in for RM388k. After corporate discount of 6% plus after bargaining maximum, the car goes down to even RM340k OTR.

    Malu lah Land Rover.

Bloody overpriced products. In fact the whole lineup is overpriced from this company.

    I can’t imagine anyone choosing this over a Hybrid X5 40e.

Still using the mill from the Freelander 2.
No Ingeniums here yet (probably due to diesel quality, I suppose).
Nevertheless, disappointing pricing. At this rate, no one will continue buying LR.

Qecil; small baby Range Rover wannabe.

X5 PHEV is definitely a better choice.

You think those who booked a few units one go were blind, or had no money to buy the rm1million flagship Range Rover?
