PACE 2025: Up to RM25k cash rebate on BYD Seal, RM10k on Sealion 7, special price Atto 3 Ultra body kit

The paultan.org Premium Auto Car Expo (PACE), which is co-sponsored by Carro and RHB Bank, is up and running at the Setia City Convention Centre (SCCC), and you can expect plenty of exceptional deals at the event, which runs from 9am to 7pm this July 19-20 weekend.

Over at the BYD booth, there’s no shortage of offers, which starts with a rebate offer of up to RM10,000 on the Sealion 7 to celebrate the brand’s 20,000-unit milestone achievement in Malaysia. Be quick if you want in, because the offer is limited to just 200 units.

Meanwhile, purchase an Atto 3 Ultra at the show and you’ll be able to get a Ultra body kit for it at a very special price, unique to the event. Originally worth RM6,000, the kit can be purchased for just RM1,999 at PACE. Again, there are only a limited number of units available, so don’t dally.

As for the BYD Seal, a cash rebate of RM25,000 as well as a three-year free service package awaits buyers of the EV sedan at the show. Additionally, the Seal, like every new BYD model booked at PACE, will come with RM300 of charging credits.

Visitors to the show will also be able to view the upcoming Atto 2 EV, which will sit in between the Dolphin and Atto 3 in the model line up here. The compact SUV is set to be launched next week, on July 24, so this is a good chance to view it in the metal ahead of its official debut. The M6 is also on display at the event, so those looking at a practical MPV should check it out.

In addition to the attractive deals being offered by each of the brands, purchasing at PACE comes with added benefits. That’s because the first 200 new vehicle bookings will come with RM3,000 worth of vouchers from our supporting partners, which include Solar Gard, Dodomat, The Carage, Kuzig Glanz, Gintell and DK Schweizer.

Similarly, the first 40 new bike bookings will also receive RM3,000 worth of vouchers from the above-mentioned supporting partners. As has always been the case with our shows, the goodies don’t end there.

Confirmed new car bookings will enter you into a lucky draw that can win you prizes, including ten smartphones worth RM3,500 each and a grand prize, consisting of a holiday package for two worth RM25,000.

  • BYD sells a record 4.27 million cars in 2024 – 40% more PHEVs sold than EVs, are the tables turning?

BYD sells a record 4.27 million cars in 2024 – 40% more PHEVs sold than EVs, are the tables turning?

By selling 514,809 units across the planet last month, BYD has wrapped up 2024 with worldwide sales of 4,272,145 units (+41.3% over 2023’s 3,024,417 units). It’s a new annual sales record for the Chinese carmaker and the first time it’s broken four million, Car News China reports.

Here’s the breakdown: 1,764,992 passenger battery-electric vehicles (EV), 2,485,378 passenger plug-in hybrids (PHEV) and 21,775 commercial vehicles. That’s 41.5% EV/58.5% PHEV in 2024 (720k more PHEVs than EVs), compared with 52.1% EV/47.9% PHEV in 2023 (125k more EVs than PHEVs).

You can see the tables have turned quite spectacularly – a consequence of Western tariffs on Chinese EVs, or changing consumer preferences at home? Against 2023, BYD’s EV sales increased 12% from 1.6 million units, while its PHEVs went up an incredible 72.8% from 1.4 million units.

What about exports? December saw 57,154 BYDs find homes outside China, propelling its 2024 total to 417,204 units. That’s nearly 72% more than the 242,766 units it exported in 2023; itself an insane 334% jump over 2022.

Cars aside, BYD is the Middle Kingdom’s number two battery supplier, with Tesla, Nio, and Toyota among its customers. The carmaker with the most R&D staff in the world installed 23.5 GWh of battery capacity in December (+32% year-on-year). In 2024, cumulative battery installations, including in EVs and stationary energy storage, hit 194.7 GWh (+29% YoY).

Closer to home, the Chinese giant is setting up a plant in Indonesia that is expected to begin operations in 2025’s fourth quarter, creating around 8,700 jobs. The company will be 31 years old this year.

  • BYD Sealion 7 – experience and test drive the brand’s flagship EV SUV at The Exchange 106 this weekend

BYD Sealion 7 – experience and test drive the brand’s flagship EV SUV at The Exchange 106 this weekend

The BYD Sealion 7 made its Malaysian launch debut earlier this week and is currently available for public viewing and test drives at The Exchange 106 in Kuala Lumpur this weekend from November 15-17, 2024.

Arriving as a fully-imported electric vehicle (EV), the Sealion 7 is BYD’s fifth model to be launched here and comes in two variants. These include the Premium that retails for RM183,800 as well as the Performance at RM199,800.

In terms of powertrains, the base variant features a rear-mounted electric motor rated at 313 PS (308 hp or 230 kW) and 380 Nm of torque, which is good for a 0-100 km/h time of 6.7 seconds. Pay the extra for the Performance and you get an additional electric motor at the front providing 218 PS (215 hp or 160 kW) and 310 Nm.

The dual-motor, all-wheel drive setup has a total system output of 530 PS (523 hp or 390 kW) and 690 Nm that enables an even quicker century sprint time of 4.5 seconds. Both variants share the same lithium iron phosphate battery with an energy capacity of 82.56 kWh.

There is difference in terms of range, with the Premium offering as much as 567 km following the NEDC standard, while the Performance offers up to 542 km. As for charging, both support AC charging at 11 kW and DC fast charging at 150 kW, the latter enabling the battery to get from a 10-80% state of charge in 32 minutes.

As you can see in the spec sheet attached here, the Sealion 7 is well equipped regardless of which variant you go for. Highlights include a comprehensive suite of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), a 15.6-inch rotating touchscreen infotainment display, support for wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, powered front seats, dual-zone climate control and a wireless charging pad.

A few reasons why you should go with the Performance, aside from its higher outputs, are the larger 20-inch wheels (with 245/45 profile tyres) compared to the Premium’s 19-inch units (235/50 front and 255/45 profile tyres) and coloured front brake calipers.

If the Sealion 7’s features appear interesting to you, see the EV for yourself in-person at The Exchange 106 this weekend. Is this worth considering over its direct competitor, the Tesla Model Y? Share your thoughts in the comments below.

  • BYD Sealion 7 EV SUV launched in Malaysia – two variants, up to 530 PS, RM183,800 to RM199,800

BYD Sealion 7 EV SUV launched in Malaysia – two variants, up to 530 PS, RM183,800 to RM199,800

First teased at the beginning of November, the BYD Sealion 7 is now on sale in Malaysia, with Sime Darby Beyond Auto having officially introduced the all-electric SUV earlier this morning at the TRX Exchange.

The Sealion 7, which is the fifth BYD EV model to be offered here, arrives as a fully-imported CBU model. Like the Seal when it was introduced earlier this year, the SUV is available in two variant forms for our market, these being the Premium and Performance, and they are priced at:

    • Sealion 7 Premium (RWD) – RM183,800
    • Sealion 7 Performance (AWD) – RM199,800

Measuring 4,830 mm long, 1,925 mm wide, 1,620 mm tall, with a wheelbase of 2,930 mm, the Sealion 7 is very much a direct competitor to the Tesla Model Y. In terms of pricing, the Sealion 7 is cheaper than the Model Y, which is presently listed at RM191,000 for the RWD and RM238,000 for the LR AWD.

BYD Sealion 7 EV SUV launched in Malaysia – two variants, up to 530 PS, RM183,800 to RM199,800

Despite its moniker, the SUV is closer in styling to the Song L – another coupé-style electric SUV with a long body and low roof line – than the Sealion 6 DM-i plug-in hybrid.

Penned by ex-Audi designer Wolfgang Egger, the Sealion 7 borrows quite a bit of styling cues from the Seal, another of Egger’s creations, not least the C-shaped headlights, large air intakes, full-width tail lights and large rear diffuser. External elements include LED headlights, LED daytime running lights and through-type LED rear combination lights.

There are two wheel sizes for the Sealion – the Premium rides on 19-inch units shod with 235/45 front and 255/45 rear profile Continental EcoContact 6 tyres, while the Performance sits on 20-inch alloy that are wrapped with 245/45 series Michelin Pilot Sport EV rubbers. Both Sealion variants feature cross-drilled front brake discs, with the Performance getting its calipers dressed in red.

Technical specifications for the Sealion 7 offered here follow that as offered in Hong Kong, the vehicle’s first major export market, with two powertrain options and drive configurations. The Premium is equipped with a single rear motor producing 308 hp (313 PS, or 230 kW) and 380 Nm of torque, which is good enough to get it from zero to 100 km/h in 6.7 seconds.

Meanwhile, the Performance is all-wheel drive, with a 215 hp (218 PS, or 160 kW) and 310 Nm front motor working with the same rear motor seen on the Premium to offer a total system output of 523 hp (530 PS, or 390 kW) and 690 Nm, allowing it to achieve the century sprint some 2.2 seconds quicker, at 4.5 seconds.

If the output numbers look familiar, well, that’s because they are, mirroring that seen on the Seal Premium Extended Range and Performance AWD, respectively. The capacity of the Blade lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery is also identical to the Seal’s, the unit employed for both variants a 82.56 kWh unit.

BYD Sealion 7 EV SUV launched in Malaysia – two variants, up to 530 PS, RM183,800 to RM199,800

On the Sealion 7 Premium, this provides a range of 567 km on the NEDC cycle, while the increased performance on the AWD results in a slight reduction in travel range to 542 km. There was no mention of WLTP range figures, but the UK BYD website provides an indication, listing it as 480 km (298 miles) for the RWD and 454 km (282 miles) for the AWD in their 82.56 kWh battery forms.

The presence of the 82.56 kWh battery on both cars also answers the question of underpinnings and the maximum DC charging rate. While markets such as Europe and the UK also get a 91.3 kWh battery that can support up to 230 kW DC charging and a revised e-Platform 3.0 Evo platform, markets outside the Continent (and China) continue on with a maximum of 150 kW of DC fast charging capability, meaning the Sealion 7 sits on the same e-Platform 3.0 as seen on the Seal.

In terms of DC charging time, it takes 32 minutes to get the battery juiced up from a 10 to 80% state of charge at the maximum rate. As for AC charging, the Sealion 7 features 11 kW of AC Type 2 charging capability, which is an improvement over the 7 kW rate offered on the Seal.

Inside, the cabin design features cleaner lines, and its overall composition feels more organic, with a double-layer dashboard neatly integrating the 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and illuminated passenger panel, with the easy-on-the-eye flow continuing into the central console. There’s also a new, cleaner-looking four-spoke steering.

Despite the unfettered presentation, there’s lots of kit. A 15.6-inch central touchscreen display – with the usual switchable portrait/landscape orientation – continues to hold court, and novelties include a 50-inch augmented reality head-up display and a four-zone zone intelligent voice interaction system.

The latter is claimed to be capable of detecting occupant commands from four zones inside the cabin, allowing tweaks to be made specific to where the person is sitting. Elsewhere, there’s Nappa leather upholstery as well as a panoramic glass roof and double-layer acoustic glass for the windshield and front windows.

BYD Sealion 7 specification sheet and price/warranty list. Click to enlarge.

Also to be found are dual-zone air-conditioning, a 12-speaker Dynaudio sound system, a 50 watt wireless mobile charger, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity and four USB ports (two front, two rear, one Type-A and one Type-C each).

Additionally, the Sealion 7 also features a PM2.5 air purification system, an NFC key card, and eight-way powered driver/six-way powered front passenger heated and ventilated seats. As for boot space, it’s 500 litres with the rear seats up and 1,769 litres with the rear seats folded. The frunk provides another 58 litres of cargo space in front.

Safety and driver assistance kit includes nine airbags (front, front and rear side, side curtain and driver far side), front/rear parking sensors, a 360-degree camera as well as a ADAS suite that includes adaptive cruise control, AEB, lane departure warning and prevention, lane keeping assist, front/rear cross-traffic alert and high beam assist.

Four exterior colours are available for the Sealion 7 in Malaysia, and these are Cosmos Black, Aurora White, Atlantis Grey and Shark Grey, common to both variants. In conjunction with the launch of the SUV, customers who book a Sealion 7 by November 17 (and register their vehicle by December 31) will receive a complimentary home charger and RM800 in charging credits with their purchase.

BYD Sealion 7 EV sighted ahead of Malaysian launch

The BYD Sealion 7 has been sighted in Port Klang on a transporter trailer ahead of its Malaysian market launch, as posted to the paultan.org Automotive/Car Discussion Group on Facebook. The electric SUV from BYD will be launching in Malaysia on November 14 this week, while bookings for the Sealion 7 have opened on November 6.

So far, we know from prior details that the Sealion 7 for Malaysia will get up to 530 PS and 690 Nm of torque from its dual-motor AWD electric powertrain, enabling a 0-100 km/h sprint in 4.5 seconds and a NEDC-rated range of 542 km.

BYD Sealion 7 EV sighted ahead of Malaysian launch

In terms of battery capacities, the Hong Kong market model receives a 82.56 kWh battery pack that takes charging at up to 150 kW DC and 11 kW AC, while the European market equivalent gets a 91.3 kWh battery that takes up to 230 kW of DC charging.

Elsewhere in markets such as Hong Kong, the Sealion 7 is also sold with a single-motor RWD powertrain which outputs 313 PS and 380 Nm of torque, enabling a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of 6.7 seconds and a NEDC-rated range of 567 km on a full charge.

Just as its stablemate, the BYD Seal rivals the Tesla Model 3, so the BYD Sealion 7 will go up against the Tesla Model Y in Malaysia. Will it turn out to be as popular as its sedan rangemate?

  • BYD Sealion 7 EV SUV launching in Malaysia Nov 14

BYD Sealion 7 EV SUV launching in Malaysia Nov 14

The BYD Sealion 7 will launch in Malaysia next Thursday, November 14, and the public can get up close and personal with the Tesla Model Y fighter at The Exchange 106 over the November 15-17 weekend. You can register for the public event here, where test drives will also be available from 10am-6pm. Bookings for the BYD Sealion 7 have been open since November 6 – you can book online here.

Among the key features mentioned in the public event registration portal are a max power of 390 kW (that’s 530 PS), a 4.5-second century sprint time and a 542 km NEDC range. These point towards the two-motor AWD variant, which also has 690 Nm of total torque.

In Hong Kong, the AWD variant gets a 82.56 kWh battery which can accept up to 150 kW DC and 11 kW AC charging, while Europe gets a 91.3 kWh battery that can support up to 230 kW DC charging.

We wonder which battery capacity we’ll get, as well as if we’ll also get the one-motor RWD variant seen in Hong Kong, which has 313 PS and 380 Nm of torque, does 0-100 km/h in 6.7 seconds and has a 82.56 kWh battery that yields a 567 km NEDC range.

As the Seal battles the Model 3, so the Sealion 7 will the Model Y. The BYD SUV is 4,830 mm long, 1,925 mm wide, 1,620 mm tall and has a 2,930 mm wheelbase. The Seal sedan goes for RM164k-200k, so how much do you expect the Sealion 7 to retail at?

BYD Sealion 7 EV SUV open for booking in Malaysia – Tesla Model Y rival, up to 530 PS, 567 km NEDC range

This just in – BYD Malaysia has announced that the Sealion 7 is now open for booking. Confirmation came as part of a social media post that finally revealed the car in full after weeks of teasing. You can click here to book for a RM1,000 booking fee.

Measuring 4,830 mm long, 1,925 mm wide, 1,620 mm tall, with a wheelbase of 2,930 mm, this electric SUV is a direct competitor to the Tesla Model Y and should be priced as such, just like how the Seal is currently doing battle with the Model 3. Expect the Sealion 7 to be priced slightly higher than its sedan sibling, which currently retails for between RM163,800 and RM199,800 nett.

Despite its name, the Sealion 7 is closer to the Song L – another coupé-style electric SUV with a long body and low roofline – than the more conventional plug-in hybrid Sealion 6 DM-i. The design, meanwhile, borrows plenty from the Seal, not least the C-shaped headlights, large air intakes, full-width taillights and large rear diffuser.

BYD Sealion 7 EV SUV open for booking in Malaysia – Tesla Model Y rival, up to 530 PS, 567 km NEDC range

The interior is a sleeker affair compared to past BYDs, with a double-layer dashboard neatly integrating the 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and illuminated passenger panel. You still, of course, get a massive 15.6-inch rotating touchscreen, along with available features such as a 50-inch augmented reality head-up display, Nappa leather upholstery, a panoramic glass roof, front and rear heated and ventilated seats and a 12-speaker Dynaudio sound system.

In Hong Kong, its first export market, the Sealion 7 is available with two powertrain options, with the base model getting a single rear motor producing 313 PS (230 kW) and 380 Nm of torque, powering the car from zero to 100 km/h in 6.7 seconds. A standard-fit 82.56 kWh Blade lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery provides a range of 567 km on the NEDC cycle.

Meanwhile, the AWD model adds a front motor with 218 PS (160 kW) and 310 Nm, resulting in a total system output of 530 PS (390 kW) and 690 Nm; the century sprint is completed some 2.2 seconds quicker at 4.5 seconds. As a result of the increased performance, range has dropped slightly to 542 km. The car supports up to 150 kW of DC fast charging power and 11 kW of AC charging.

BYD Sealion 7 EV SUV open for booking in Malaysia – Tesla Model Y rival, up to 530 PS, 567 km NEDC range

It should be noted that in Europe, the top AWD model will receive a larger 91.3 kWh battery, as well as support for up to 230 kW of DC fast charging thanks to an 800-volt electrical architecture. It remains to be seen which version we’ll get, although our money is on the model sold in Hong Kong.

Whichever version we’ll get, the Sealion 7 certainly sounds like a compelling proposition. What do you think – would you get this over the Model Y? Sound off in the comments section after the jump.

  • BYD Sealion 7 electric SUV confirmed for Malaysia – coming soon to take on Tesla Model Y

BYD Sealion 7 electric SUV confirmed for Malaysia – coming soon to take on Tesla Model Y

“Which Sealion?” we asked ourselves following BYD Malaysia’s teaser last week. Now we have an answer thanks to the latest teaser posted over the weekend. The image is darkened but we can just about identify the headlamps as belonging to the Sealion 7 (on the Sealion 6, the gap between the headlamps and C-blade DRLs are just that bit shorter).

Measuring in at 4,830 mm long, 1,925 mm wide, 1,620 mm tall, with a wheelbase of 2,930 mm, the electric crossover – known as the Sea Lion 07 in its domestic market – is a direct competitor to the Tesla Model Y. Motor power outputs quoted for the model in other markets range from 228 hp (150 kW) to 308 hp (230 kW) and 523 hp (390 kW), the last two mirroring that seen on the Seal Premium Extended Range and Performance AWD respectively.

In Europe, where the Sealion 7 was recently launched, two battery specifications have been announced, with the larger of the two lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery specifications being a 91.3 kWh unit, of which 82.5 kWh is usable. The unit yields up to 550 km of range on the WLTP cycle, and charging the 82.5 kWh battery-equipped Sealion 7 at its maximum of 230 kW DC will get the unit from 30-80% in 25 minutes.

“More to come next week”, says the teaser – we can’t wait!

  • BYD Sealion teased – performance SUV arriving soon in Malaysia, will it be the fully-electric Sealion 7?

BYD Sealion teased – performance SUV arriving soon in Malaysia, will it be the fully-electric Sealion 7?

Having launched the Seal Dynamic in September and the M6 MPV last month, it’s shaping up to be a busy final quarter for BYD Malaysia and Sime Darby Beyond Auto, with yet another BYD model launch set to come about before the year is out.

On its Facebook page, BYD Malaysia has posted a teaser image hinting that a “performance SUV with premium styling” is due to arrive soon. The subject in the image isn’t a vehicle but of a sea lion, the pinniped providing the obvious clue that a Sealion-badged model is heading our way.

The question is of course, which Sealion? Given that BYD Malaysia has indicated that it is planning to introduce plug-in hybrid models in the country, the initial thought would be that the Sealion 6 is the said candidate. After all, the 6, which is a rebadged Seal U, is already on sale in Thailand.

However, the PHEV isn’t going to enjoy the tax breaks a full-electric gets, and in what is quickly shaping up to be a price competitive environment, the tack should be to deploy a model that will be able to take full advantage of the rebates, meaning that the incoming model is likely to be the all-electric Sealion 7.

So, will it be the Sealion 7 that appears when the time comes, or by a long shot, the 6 DM-i PHEV? Given the indication provided by the teaser post, that question should be answered quite soon.

BYD Sealion 7 enters European market – battery-electric SUV takes the EV fight to the Tesla Model Y

The BYD Sealion 7 has made its European market debut, entering the battery-electric SUV segment on the continent where it will go head-to-head with the Tesla Model Y. In China, the electric SUV – where it is known as the BYD Sea Lion 07 – made its debut in November 2023, before going on sale in China in four variants starting from 189,800 yuan (RM115,316).

Unveiled as part of the Chinese manufacturer’s Ocean range of electric vehicles which includes the Seagull, Dolphin and Seal, the Sealion 7 for Europe is based on the carmaker’s e-platform 3.0, and is inspired by the Ocean-X concept.

The Sea Lion 07 is 4,830 mm long, 1,925 mm wide, 1,620 mm tall with a wheelbase of 2,930 mm, while inside it sports a 500-litre luggage compartment and a 58-litre ‘frunk’ in front. For comparison, its closest competitor the Tesla Model Y measures 4,750 mm long, 1,920 mm wide and 1,623 mm tall with a 2,891 mm wheelbase.

Two battery specifications have been announced for the Sealion 7 in Europe, where the larger of the two lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery specifications offers 91.3 kWh of capacity, of which 82.5 kWh is usable capacity which yields up to 550 km of range on the WLTP cycle, according to Inside EVs. Charging the 82.5 kWh battery-equipped Sealion 7 at its maximum of 230 kW DC will bring its from 30-80% in 25 minutes.

Powertrain specifications for the European market Sealion 7 have yet to be officially disclosed, though those of the Sea Lion 07 in other markets get a dual-motor powertrain with up to 523 hp, and a 0-100 km/h time of 4.5 seconds, onward to a top speed of 214 km/h.

These motor figures line up with those of the Seal which packs a dual-motor layout with 215 hp/310 Nm front motor and 308 hp/360 Nm rear motor, with a similar usable battery capacity. In the UK, the right-hand-drive market will initially receive the Sealion 7 in this top powertrain specification, reports Autocar.

Inside, the Sealion 7 gets a 15.6-inch rotating infotainment screen along with a 10.25-inch driver’s instrument display, along with a 50-inch augmented-reality head-up display. Further interior equipment includes

The Sea Lion 07 for China is the first model from BYD to feature the manufacturer’s DiPilot 100 ADAS suite that packs 12 ultrasonic radar units, five millimetre-wave radar units, and 11 cameras. This enables Level 2 assisted driving, with features including lane keep assist, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, traffic sign recognition, and intelligent speed control.

While the initial production run for the Sealion 7 for Europe is expected to emerge from China, this model is expected to be the first to be produced from the manufacturer’s first European EV plant in Szeged, Hungary.

Being produced from this region will enable BYD to bypass EU tariffs on made-in-China electric vehicles, where otherwise the brand would sustain an additional 17% tax on top of the original 10% tax on the vehicle. Meanwhile, EVs in Malaysia still enjoy road tax exemption until the end of 2025.

2024 BYD Sea Lion 07 debuts in China – crossover EV to take on Tesla Model Y; priced from RM131k est

BYD has unveiled the new Sea Lion 07 at this year’s Auto Guangzhou, which will look to take on the Tesla Model Y. The fully electric crossover joins the carmaker’s Ocean electric vehicles (EVs) that includes the Seagull, Dolphin and Seal.

The design of the Sea Lion 07 is the work of ex-Audi designer Wolfgang Egger (currently BYD’s head of design since 2016) and inspired by the Ocean-X, a concept car that BYD revealed when it officially launched the e-platform 3.0 over two years ago. Said architecture underpins the new crossover, which measures 4,830 mm long, 1,925 mm wide, 1,620 mm tall and with a wheelbase of 2,930 mm.

Curiously, these figures aren’t too far off from the Song L, which will go on sale in China on December 15 as another of the brand’s EVs. Bringing the Model Y into the comparison, the Tesla is smaller at 4,750 mm long, 1,920 mm wide, 1,623 mm tall and having a wheelbase spanning 2,891 mm.

According to CarNewsChina, BYD plans to make Sea Lion a new product range under the Ocean series, with the 07 being the one that leads this catalogue. It’s a little confusing, but the flow would be BYD > Ocean series > Sea Lion line-up. After the 07, the company will also be introducing the Sea Lion 05 and 06.

Powertrain details aren’t available just yet, but the company points out the Sea Lion 07 uses the same cell to body (CTB) technology. This sees the Blade battery being integrated into the vehicle body – similar to the Seal – which the company says increases volume utilisation by 66% and vertical space by 10 mm.

Another technology featured on the EV is the company’s DiSus suspension system, specifically the DiSus-C version that provides what is effectively adaptive damping by way of a damper solenoid valve.

The Sea Lion 07 is expected to be priced between 200,000 and 260,000 yuan (RM131,039 and RM168,797). This price range undercuts the Model Y significantly, as the latter goes for between 266,400 and 363,900 yuan (RM172,952 and RM236,251).
