  • 2025 Mercedes-Benz EQV facelift to launch in Malaysia tomorrow – Avantgarde Line, two 12.3-inch screens?

2025 Mercedes-Benz EQV facelift to launch in Malaysia tomorrow – Avantgarde Line, two 12.3-inch screens?

Go to Hap Seng Star’s Facebook page and you’ll see the above poster, announcing that the 2025 Mercedes-Benz EQV facelift will be launched in Malaysia tomorrow by the country’s Mercedes-Benz commercial vehicle distributor, Hap Seng Truck Distribution.

This is the first time Malaysia is getting the electric van officially – three years ago you could buy an EQV 300 from Weststar for RM485k, although that was the pre-facelift version. Now we’re going to get the facelift, which was globally revealed in 2023. It’s still based on the third-gen W447 platform, though.

The EQV is only available in Avantgarde trim. In the shot above you can see a closed-off grille; we wonder if Malaysia will get LED illumination here. At the bottom of the rear window should be Mercedes-Benz lettering, and inside you’ll find a new dashboard containing new air vents, new switchgear and two 12.3-inch screens connected to each other.

If it’s the EQV 300 we’re getting, you can expect a 204 PS/362 Nm front-mounted electric motor, a 90-kWh battery, a 340 km range, a 45-minute 10-80% charging time at 110 kW DC and a sub-10 hour full charge at 11 kW AC. There should be seven seats in a 2-2-3 arrangement, just like Weststar’s 2022 EQV 300.

Full details tomorrow, but just for comparison’s sake, the petrol-powered Vito Tourer is now priced at RM435k, up from RM342k-RM360k at launch in 2021. A year later, there was even a RM380k Maybach-like Vito Tourer Special Edition.

  • 2024 Mercedes-Benz V-Class, EQV, Vito, eVito facelifts debut – stylish exterior, redesigned interior, new kit

2024 Mercedes-Benz V-Class, EQV, Vito, eVito facelifts debut – stylish exterior, redesigned interior, new kit

Mercedes-Benz has updated its entire midsize van range, which includes passenger and commercial versions that can be had with internal combustion engine (ICE) or fully electric powertrains. On the passenger side, there’s the facelifted EQV, V-Class and V-Class Marco Polo camper, while companies get the new Vito and eVito light commercial vehicles (LCVs).

All of them are based on the third-generation W447 model that last got an update in 2019, and the German carmaker says this latest refresh serves as an intermediate step before it brings out its upcoming modular and scalable VAN.EA (Van Electric Architecture) platform from 2026 onwards.

As part of the facelift, the vans gain a redesigned front bumper with a significantly larger grille and reshaped intakes. The grille design differs depending on the model and chosen trim level, with the EQV being offered with the Avantgarde Line, while the V-Class is available in four variants: entry-level, Style, Avantgarde and Exclusive – AMG Line and the Night Package are optional add-ons.

The V-Class Marco Polo is geared for the outdoors with a living space as well as improved functionality and comfort befitting a camper van. For tradespeople, the Vito and eVito, which come in Tourer, panel van and Mixto versions, have three equipment lines: Base, Pro and Select.

Mercedes-Benz also points out that the radiator grille of the EQV, V-Class and V-Class Marco Polo can be illuminated by an LED light band depending on the equipment chosen. The V-Class Exclusive also gets an upright Mercedes star on the bonnet for the first time, like with its passenger cars. Adaptive Multibeam LED headlamps are also available as standard or as an option, while the rear taillights have a smoked look to them to further accentuate their light signature.

Also at the rear is a new chrome trim trip with Mercedes-Benz lettering on passenger versions, and customers can choose from different wheel designs sized from 17 to 19 inches, along with five new paint colours.

Keeping to the mission of making its midsize vans even more attractive to customers on either side of the pond, there’s a new interior design that sees new dashboards being applied. As such, the air vents and switchgear have a more modern look to them, bringing the cabin up to levels on par with current Mercedes-Benz passenger cars.

For the first time, the EQV, V-Class and V-Class Marco Polo now come with two 12.3-inch screens – one as the digital instrument cluster and the other being a touchscreen for the infotainment system. The Vito and eVito LCVs also look less blue collar than before by adopting a 10.25-inch central touchscreen and a 5.5-inch colour display in the instrument binnacle.

These displays are powered by the latest Mercedes-Benz User Experience (MBUX), with the system being a first for commercial versions. Functions like a digital voice assistant, connected services, software updates and heightened navigation (with charging-based route planning) are all present.

A variety of new features have also been added, some of which are optional. These include a wireless charger, keyless start, a heated steering wheel, a 64-colour ambient lighting system, a sliding door on the left-hand side of the vehicle (now standard), a powered tailgate and electronic parking brake.

Driving assistance systems that come standard are also more comprehensive, with the EQV, V-Class and V-Class Marco Polo being equipped with Attention Assist, Headlamp Assist including rain sensor, Active Distance Assist Distronic, Active Brake Assist with cross-traffic function, Blind Spot Assist, Active Lane Keeping Assist, Intelligent Speed Assist and Park Package.

The Vito and eVito gets nearly the same systems, but without Active Distance Assist Distronic and Park Package is replaced with a normal reverse camera. Further systems can be added as a cost option, but their availability is dependent on the starting vehicle and equipment line chosen.

Mercedes-Benz didn’t mention any changes to powertrains in its release, so we should expect the same options as before. The EQV and eVito get a front-mounted electric motor rated at 204 PS (201 hp or 150 kW) and 362 Nm of torque, with the former available with a 60-kWh battery in the EQV250 or 90-kWh battery in the EQV300. Meanwhile, the ICE line-up is a mixture of 1.6 litre, 1.7 litre, 2.0 litre and 2.2 litre turbodiesels.

Mercedes-Benz EQV 300 in Malaysia – 7-seat van with 100 kWh battery, 340 km EV range, 204 PS; fr RM485k

Looking for an EV that can ferry up to seven people? Well, this Mercedes-Benz EQV is available for purchase through local importer Weststar Motors. Offered in Sport Premium guise with the EQV300 powertrain, the asking price is RM485,000.

Based on the W447 V-Class facelift and first revealed in August 2019, the fully electric passenger van features a 100-kWh lithium-ion battery (90 kWh usable), with the listing quoting a range of around 340 km on a single charge.

The EQV comes with an on-board AC charger (Type 2 connection) capable of handling 11 kW, with a full charge achieved in under 10 hours. There’s also support for DC fast charging (CCS2 connection) at up to 110 kW, which will get the battery from a 10-80% state of charge in around 45 minutes. With 15 minutes of being plugged into a DC charger capable of that output, you’ll get about 100 km of range in just 15 minutes.

Said battery feeds power to a front-mounted electric motor that is rated at 204 PS (201 hp or 150 kW) and 362 Nm of torque, allowing for a top speed of 160 km/h. With its position in the vehicle’s underfloor, the battery does not compromise interior space.

On that mention, this EQV300 has a 2-2-3 seat layout, with the second row being two captain chairs, which are accompanied by a sliding centre console with deployable tray tables. Getting in and out is done via the powered sliding doors on either side of the vehicle, and the third-row bench can be slid forwards and back.

Visually, the EQV is differentiated from a regular V-Class by its black panel radiator grille, model-specific badging and high-tech silver exterior. Pictured here is a Brilliant Silver paint finish that is joined by 17-inch five-twin-spoke light-alloy wheels.

In terms of kit, you get black Lugano leather upholstery, wood trim with a pinstripe effect, illuminated door sills, anodised roof rails, powered front seats, dual-zone Thermotronic climate control (with pre-entry feature) Tempmatic rear air-conditioning (with ceiling vents), LED Intelligent Light System headlamps, an ambient lighting system, a 10.25-inch touchscreen MBUX (Mercedes-Benz User Experience) infotainment system and a multi-info instrument cluster display.

As for safety and driver assistance systems, the list includes Active Distance Assist Distronic (adaptive cruise control), Parking Package with a 360-degree camera, Blind Spot Assist, Traffic Sign Assist, Lane Keeping Assist, Attention Assist and Highbeam Assist Plus.

  • Mercedes-Benz EQV all-electric MPV – 405 km range

    Mercedes-Benz EQV all-electric MPV – 405 km range

Mercedes-Benz Vans has taken the wraps off the series production version of the all-electric EQV ahead of its debut in Frankfurt next month. The EV, which was shown in preview form in Geneva earlier this year, is based on the W447 V-Class facelift and will be offered in two different wheelbase forms – one at 3,200 mm-long, and the other at 3,430 mm.

The technical elements and specifications for the EQV remain unchanged from that seen in the study. Motive power comes from a compact electric drivetrain (eATS), located on the front axle and driving the front wheels. The unit integrates the electric motor, the transmission (with fixed transmission ratios), the cooling system and the power electronics in a compact housing.

The eATS offers 205 hp (150 kw) and 362 Nm of output, and is juiced by a 100 kWh lithium-ion battery – with 90 kWh of usable energy – housed on the vehicle’s underfloor, the placment of the unit meaning there is no impact on the interior space of the vehicle. As with the concept, the series production EQV has a 160 km/h top speed.

Operating range for the production unit is up slightly, the provisional figure now quoted as up to 405 km on a full charge (for the Concept, 400 km). As standard, the EQV is equipped with a water-cooled on-board charger (OBC) with a capacity of 11 kWh, making it suitable for AC charging at home via a Mercedes-Benz Wallbox or at public charging stations. Via AC charging at 11 kW, the battery can be charged to full in under 10 hours.

With DC charging using the series-standard CCS (Combined Charging Systems) port, charging time drops significatly. An integrated rapid charging function means that the battery can be charged at 110 kW from 10 to 80% state of charge (SoC) in around 45 minutes, and sufficient energy for approximately 100 km of travel can be provided in just 15 minutes.

To ensure that the technical operating range is used to the maximum, the EQV also charges its batteries when on the move, through recuperation, with an automatically-activated ECO Assistant helping the driver to achieve the best possible efficiency.

    Mercedes-Benz EQV all-electric MPV – 405 km range

The EQV can be specified as a six-seater with premium seating or with seven or eight seats for use as a heavy-duty family people mover, and there’s up to 1,030 litres of luggage space, depending on configuration.

Styling elements that differentiate it from the regular V-Class include a high-tech silver exterior and a black panel radiator grille with chrome fins. The wheel size has however been scaled down from the 19-inch units seen on the Concept – the production EQC still rides on specific EQ design lightweight wheels, but in 18-inch guise.

Inside, the Midnight Blue leather upholstery scheme previewed by the Concept makes its way on, as does rose gold trim. The latter colour, which the company says stands for value and electrification, is featured on infotainment and sound system frame components, while the air vents are finished in Silver Shadow surrounds. Rose gold is also the chosen shade for the decorative contrast stitching for the seats.

Kit on the EQV includes a MBUX (Mercedes-Benz User Experience) infotainment system, which combines a 10-inch high-resolution touchscreen display with learning voice operation and innovative connectivity features.

Aside from displaying the charging current, departure time, energy flow and consumption histogram, the system will also – in combination with the Mercedes me app – offer EQV drivers the ability to plan their destinations from the home or office, enter a departure time and bring the interior to the desired temperature.

The Mercedes-Benz EQV will be produced at the automaker’s plant in Vitoria, Spain, where the V-Class and Vito are also made.
