The Chery T11 Tiggo is now available in Malaysia for a sum of RM80,292. While it looks much like a combination of the second generation Toyota RAV4 rear and the 2nd gen Honda CR-V and Naza Sorento’s front, the chassis is not carried from either vehicles.
Chery’s local distributor Alado says the T11 Tiggo sold here is powered by a Mitsubishi-based engine, but I did some research online and was confused by what I found. The Chery T11 Tiggo is available in other markets with two 2.0 litre engine options – one is a 1,997cc Mitsubishi 4G63 engine making 123 horsepower and 170Nm of torque. The other is powered by a Chery-designed ACTECO engine codenamed SQR484F which was developed by Austrian firm AVL. [Source] This engine family has also been commissioned by other automakers like Fiat, which will use the 1.6 litre and 1.8 litre ACTECO engines in it’s China-produced cars.
The Chery ACTECO SQR484F is a 1,971cc DOHC engine with a 10.2:1 compression ratio and produces 129 horsepower at 5,750rpm and 180Nm of torque at 4,000rpm, which matches the specs Alado quoted for our local Tiggo. [Source] In the Chery T11 Tiggo’s application, the engine is only available with a 5-speed manual at the moment.
Some basic specs – 5 seats, 2WD drivetrain, 3-spoke steering wheel, dual SRS airbags, CD player, heated front seats, antilock brakes, electronic brake distribution, and power steering. The rear hatch is of the side-hinged design, which Honda recently abandoned with the new 3rd generation Honda CR-V.
At RM80k, the Chery T11 Tiggo is a reasonably attractive SUV that manages to keep the price down with equipment levels that are only the necessities – not many people require 4WD. I’m not quite sure at this point whether the Tiggo is a CBU import or locally assembled. There was previously talk about having the Tiggo assembled at either Oriental Assemblers in Johor or at one of Proton’s plants – but I am not sure if this has happened or not.

the exterior is not bad i think. the specs are quite good, it's hard to find an RM80k car with EBD in our country! maybe the main problem with chinese autos is that nobody knows about its reliability. finding spare parts is another problem.
I sis a test drive with tiggo 1.6 & 2.0 litre engine. When it comes to the price, it is very competitive. Don’t compare it with japanese or continental cars. Just compare it with our local made cars, then you can see a lot of difference in term of design, engine, price and your own satisfaction. Need to get this kind of car
Bunyi mcm familiar. Ada ka brand lain yg bg diskaun & layanan yg bagus utk mangsa2 banjir? Rasanya tiada, semua sama saja. Ada pendapat lain?
i think that the most important thing for Chery is to change the mind set of the ppl on this China brand car..
Another GOOD from Far and FAR from Good products from CHina.
Some more RM80K? Don't waste your time and money lah bro, go find a USED CRV or Toyota is much better than it.
Great Price but is the Product Great? That's another story. Work a bit harder, for extra RM10K+ can get a Hyundai Tucson 2.0 2WD. Work even harder with extra RM20K+, can get a Kia Sportage 2.0 4WD CKD. Like NiceCar said, they really have to work on winning people's confidence of forking out money for a China car. Even Chery Sedans isn't doing so well so SUV would be a more tougher market.
it's a bit like buying yourself a RM80k ciplak vcd
I second the remark that it may be better to buy a slightly used CRV or RAV4 than buying a new Cherry.
However, if it was powered by the 4G63 (from the looks of it, the SOHC one, similar to the perdana) then parts and service shouldnn;t be a big issue.
I highly suspect it is the ACTECO engine instead of the Mitsubishi engine!
honda CRV on the fornt + toyota RAV4 at he back
Paul, is a CBU or CKD? When is the Chery MPV coming out?
Looks surprisingly decent for a Chinese car, I think it would look better if the badge in front is removed.
u calculate lor, whether this is a good buy for this vehicle onot… though its kinda low at RM80K sth for an SUV, how bout for the long run? do we have to spend more for the repairs and services and parts? if so izit still worth to get this SUV? if for me, i would rather save up more money to get myself either a RAV4 or CRV… or even a kembara, since its an SUV oso hehe!
decent priced car i may say…….

HAHAHAHA!!!
i have viewed the car at the Ampang branch.
There are major big problem with the quality of the finishing, i.e. the dashboard, the plastic and all… looks rough and of poor quality.
Even the fittings are not inline and goes out of place here and there… you have to see to believe.
But there is saying, what do you expect for RM80K.
i owned a chery t11. if you just want a car for transportation of people and/or cargoes then it is OK and the space will allow to put in alot of things but if you want to show off and start to compare with the japanese or continental design, you may be disappointed.
Hi Linus,
Thanks for your quick feedback. The main reason I consider Chery Tiggo T11 is because I find it is good value car (after my test drive) with 2.0 litre engine with tough car body (safety), spaces, not under power drive, good car apperance, and low service maintence, handy service centre and have a local manufacturer spare part plant in Pahang. The only concern is realiability and second hand resell value of course I understand China car is yet to be populared in Malaysia but I’m sure it’ll become good demand after people realise the real quality of China Car. Beside, in the market I don’t see any 2.0 litre engine with tough car body in the market. Please clarify what you means the disappointment against japanese or continental design car, can you more specify? Any negative comment so far after you bought this car? TQ
The body is tough and the car is relatively heavy. Chery does not have quality interior. I am currently quite happy with the car. I thought i may have problem getting parts too but the car came with 5 years warranty and i have met a few chery owners. once the warranty is over, you can choose to buy the parts and use outside workshop or use agent workshop. the parts can be purchase over the chery office and it is not exorbitant . they are priced just like any original parts of any made.
just made sure that you service the car regularly. if you own a car you have to pay the price of being a car owner…
the fuel consumption is not pleasant in city traffic. i guess because the car is huge and heavy.
but the car came with many things that most other brands cannot provide after visiting other brands of SUV..
the spare tyre is with a sport rim ( all other brands only give you ordinary wheel)
the roof racket is fully fitted (most of the SUV only come with parallel bar)
there is a sun roof (suzuki SUV don’t have)
the back seats can be fully removed… and can convert it into a temp van..(most of the SUV cannot)
all windows incl sun roof will automatically closed and all lights automatically off when you remove the car key. (i understand only certain high end car provides this)
i have this car it,s very good compared to it,s price and quality
i saw that problem also and had been told what u expect from the price. I confuse is that the way they give the service after we bought. ” what u expected from the China made car “
… looks a lot like first gen Honda CRV to me
The front logo reminds me of Toyota logo…I bet it failed crash test…
Cherry launch a new version of the Tiggo, we get the old one… this is malaysian automotive karma. Always getting the old model.

Dear, Paul
Look nice, quickly go and get one for a test drive….. Please…
couldn't wait to read your raves and rants about this….
(and also that Nissan Livina)
Thanks!
On this new lauch, I see lesser crticism than the earlier launch. It is a good sign. China has became world number3 motor vehicle producer in 2006. If you take a look at Shanghai Motor 2007, you can feel the strong emerging of China local brands.
Chery has become China's number one car producer in March 2007, overtaken GM, VW and others. Tiggo also has became the best seller SUV in March 2007.
The Acteco engine is one of the best engine in the world. Even other manufacturer like FIAT also willing to use it on their cars.
I do not think that you would regret of buying a Tiggo for RM80k, compare with buying a CRV at RM140k.
Malaysian, please do not look down on China as they are advancing to become one of the most sience and technology advanced country in the world.
Is it a strong car ? Is there automatic trans. and how much the cc ?
Mr.Paul Tan,this is not a comment, just a question.I just want to ask some question about Tiggo T11 SUV 2.0.I just bought it about couples a week ago.My question is,is the Tiggo T11 SUV 2.0 have a 4WD system? Please give me an answer. That's all about it.
Hi Paul,
I’m very keen about Chery Tiggo T11 SUV 2.0. So far, what is your comment about this car you bought couple of week? Encounter any issue which you like to share with me?
Cherry tiggo merupakan mobil masa depan yang representattif dengan harga yang terjangkau. Namun saya belum dapat menjangkau harganya. Sebagai dosen jelas tidak cukup gaji untuk mengharapkan dapat memiliki mobil tersebut
i think why no u all think about this brand…mybe it good n not…but dont simple tell that the brand is bad…i must go and check it at showroom.same to u all bro……just be agood malaysian
is the the parts to expensive.service after sale ar good and canbe trust.
alo malaysian…come on lar..itz only typical malaysian punye thinking. China is now very advance. Since it is a very big country, there are million of labours that need jobs. That's why most of China products are cheap. Their cost of production are very low. Those who studied business and costing, i'm sure they know about this. If their products are not good enough, then why is it many countries in the world imported China cars? Every country has their own level of quality, they won't simply export products without doing any testing on them. Come on lar, don't simply say. GOD gives us two eyes, two ears.Listen from one side, don't straightly believe it. Go, see and listen the explaination from those who already owned the car. Look at it wif your own eyes, test drive wif your own hands and legs, then only you know the answers. THINK Malaysian!
I don't want to say either the best or the worst about this car, but for me, I like this car and I bought it last September 2009, manual type 1.6 in KK. If anyone want to see it, welcome.
Hi Kak Nur,
Any negative feedback and negative servicing issue you encounter so far since you have been driving this car for almost half a year? Your value feedback is greatly appreciated.
kak nur blh bg email akak?? sbb sy mmg nk tgk dan mintak pendpt akak
i purchase my chery tiggo T11 last summer, within the first four months i"ve had nothing but trouble for the price i've paid for it a total of $43,000.00. The car is now 16 mths old and my crankshaft is damage.. what the hell ????
My car has been for its service every six months ($460 a full service) in bermuda. I believed i purchased this car with the problem it has and the dealer talking bout the car should be serviced every 5000 kil come on bermuda is not even half the size of the US that is crazy!!!!! So believe it or not the dealer is saying that i"ve broke the warranty SAD but true.
can someone tell me Chery cars can be serviced by any workshop?
hallo, kawan saya tak puas hati tentang prize air filter untuk air con,,terlampau mahal
dengan harga rm-102.. jauh berbeza ,,sedangkan proton baru rm-puluh ringgit ,,,minta perhatian chery turun lah harga ,service pun banyak mahal tak masuk akal juga kita service lain tempat baru rm 150,,chery punya .rm-250,,apa macam bro,,,,,,,
in singapore, chery parts is not available in the market…i understand that there are chery car parts equivalent of other car makers'…i prefer to use equivalent than use chery originals if my car needs repair or servicing…thanks
buy chery not the main problems, the main trouble is after u paid the down payment and collect the car, if u have any complaint for spare part spoilt they will try to push away our complaint. somemore they dun know how to service the car. they bring our car out of service centre to repair. if out sider spoilt our car, they dun admit and dun wan responsible and give many many reasons. if consumer wanna sue them they still very ego and said they will win. Have u seen tis kind of company?

5 years warrenty for engine & 3 years for body….for 90k….y not?
RM 80K ? in Dongguan China the same spec of car is only selling at RM 35,000, the agent in Malaysia must be pocketing hell lot of profit money.
The workmanship inside & outside are of inferior quality, you must test drive to ” appreciate ” that !
I won’t dare to buy, even it is RM 40,000.00.
Parts will be another nightmare for you !
3 of my friends have ” kena” , the highest trade in value for their Tiggo, which stands as merely RM 32,000 after hardly use for only 1 year, and that’s the highest amongst 5 car dealers who can accept their cars!
Just try it if you dare !
Disappointed people
If the Cherry Tiggo engine run with Mitsubishi, I dare to buy it. But, if it is from ACTECO….eeeemmmmm I go for other option. Concern about long term possibility of spare parts and availability of ease on getting service.
when it comes a year driving around the island & it shows the problems accured all the times.
shit withj sale agent in KK, i bought chery tiggo last october 2009, on january it started to havr problem with left hand side driveshaft, complaint to tiggo agent in labuan receive scolded response, now the part still not available, to wait from china. i forced to drive the car with faulty parts, i am very concern with the car safety n me, i regret nobody want to help me solve this. why shit..
