2007 Mitsubishi Lancer in Malaysia Q3 2007?

Galant Fortis

Back last month, a reader of this blog sent in e-mails informing me that they spotted the 2007 Mitsubishi Lancer (called the Galant Fortis in Japan) at the Customs office in Putrajaya. No spyshots of the car on the road just yet, but MTM has an announcement on it’s frontpage now that a new C-segment sedan will be launched in Q3 2007, which should be the period of July to September 2007.

The last C-segment sedan that was launched in Malaysia is the 2006 Honda Civic, but the Toyota Corolla Altis is also due for a refresh soon as it’s replacement has already been revealed in the international market. The Bluebird Sylphy won’t be replacing the Sentra anytime this year, with Nissan choosing to take one step at a time with the relatively large B-segment Nissan Latio instead.

Check out more details and photos of the 2007 Lancer in the related links below:

I wonder how much does the body shell defers from it powerful brother, the Evo X? If there isn't much difference then you'll see a slot of Evo Xs on the road!

Nice… but is this new Lancer (ex-Wira body shell) is now safer and tougher and before ?

As we know, Wira bodyshell is soft and not meeting the safety standard.

Hopefully this issue has been improved to the current Civic/Altis safety standard ( min. JNCAP 5 Stars ***** )

The best looking Lancer ever! This will give the Civic a really good fight when it's launched… while waiting for the Altis to arrive. Check out the US site for some beautiful insight http://www.lancerproject.com/lancer/

@J, do you even know that Wira was based on a Lancer that was 3 generation older??? Most manufacturers claim an improvement of at least 30-50% in terms of rigidity in every replacement so if I take the minimum of 30%, the 2007 Lancer would be 119.7% more rigid than the Wira. Now you know why Wira don't stand a chance during an impact with newer cars? Imagine Iswara that is 5 generation behind!!! Or was that 6?

@Ralliace, Evo X looks similar but with carbon fiber body parts at strategic spots, body kit and loads of new electronics, which may include active dampers! The expected price of close to RM300k will make sure that there won't be "a lot" of them on the road.
