The Proton Saga 1.6 litre B-Line with manual transmission is now available for public booking on Proton Edar’s website. The B-Line M/T listed at RM39,000 is the sole 1.6 litre model on sale, and is only available in Chilli Red. That’s about roughly a RM3k premium over the 1.3 litre B-Line M/T.
No specs for the B-Line 1.6L M/T have been made known on the site but based on various ads placed on online classifieds: it has power windows for the front, air conditioning, an alarm system and a CD player so it should satisfy the bare requirements of creature comforts, but with no safety features as there is no airbag.
The car comes with steel wheels so if you want to spend some money you can quickly junk them and put something else on to match the more powerful engine.
Interestingly the cheapest and most affordable N-Line which was priced at RM31.5k seems to be completely gone from Proton Edar’s website now.
It is not unusual for car manufacturers to launch a car model with the very baseline model priced without profit or even at a loss to draw customers to showrooms, and then later get the sales staff to try to sell them the more profitable trim levels. This baseline model will then be phased out later.
Also, is it just me or have the prices changed since launch?

Even the owner self upgrading their 1.3 to 1.6 engine with internal and ECU, that would cost about RM3K including labour. 1.3 litre is upgradable to 1.6 except the warranty viod after you did that modification. So when manufacturer giving this option, it actually benefit to more consumers. Where they still get the manufacturer warranty.
Beside, those that does not require extra power, can enjoy the lower fuel consumption of 1.3 litre which per tank mileage is way better than Myvi. In the long run, 1.3 litre is still more economical then 1.6 litre. For a normal commute, the 1.6 litre will certainly consume much more fuel than 1.3 litre.
Toyota did came out with J spec and it sell below RM70K. With the huge discount given to new Vios buyers, the second value already drop like nobody business. The reason owners kept quite is because they manage to sell their own. If they wish to trade in, the value is somehow 10K-15K less than the list selling price you see.

the 2009 price for BLM has gone up due to some modification has been done to that car and if you notice, the weight between 2008 and 2009 version is different (this is what i've been told)….

1st gen owner suffered?…..hmmm not all….paid RM880/month for 60 months….what is the value of my car now? 10k, 20K?…dont care how much it cost now…coz i settled the loan and can easily sell my far for a cash…..

By launching 1.6L Saga, i suspect that proton i tryin to test the market and i predict that all models will be upgrade , Gen 2 maybe will be installed with new CPS T for Exora and new waja will be installed with at least 1.8L or 2.0L engine from mitsu.. hopefully i'm right , next year going to be interesting ..

memang betul. tapi pengguna gak nak sangat. Proton offer SE yang limited. jadi sapa nak…. beli, kalau tak…. segment lain ada. u all pun kena paham nak bangunkan enjin bukan mudah macam jerang air. kena sabar sikit. enjin 1.8, 2.0 memang dalam perancangan, tak terlepas gak diesel. Lancer kuar enjin kuasa baru, ramai gak geluh…. Proton tawarkan LE 1.6 tu pun N-line, maksudnya semua ok. tapi aku rasa nak tambah dual airbag tak ada masalah sebab ruang dah ada cuma tambah duit je antar balik kat SC mintak diaorang pasangkan. Saga 1.3 tu pun dah kira ok kalau buat sikit NA tuning tapi jangan Void warranty, nyesal. Pengeluar lain pun but camtu gak.

Give me Waja 1st gen (mitsu engine) over campro/campro cps every time… and if you in the used car sale, then you will know that people seek/prefer the 1st gen Waja compared to campro/cps… even when the new ones come with immobilizer.
At this rates, Proton already move fast and focus with their strategies, don't see any problem with that, especially Thailand market love car with extra power. So it would be another hot selling model in Thailand, if they launch this variant there.
This is more like the starting point of giving fair treatment to domestic market so to speak, as what Proton was known for abandon or ignore domestic interest previously.
The 69K Vios is not a junk, just sans most of the accessories from the list. If one must say it is junk, than all the other variant in Vios also junk, since the build is the same quality as the others Vios.

Wow.The 1.3 owner would be dissapointed.This is why I am scared to buy the new Waja CPS.Scared after buying this Waja CPS,the new Waja comes out and selling at the same price and must better with better or more accesories in less than one or two years.Proton should test and think about the car properly before lauching.If only proton can advice the customer whats the next model or idea or how long is the next upgraded car will be launch instead of keeping quiet and suddenly launch a better car and same price.

I think this will dissapoint to many 1.3 owner, many of us didn't expect 1.6 engine on proton small saga car, so what happen to persona, 1.8 in the near future…
Maybe proton buyers need to wait for a while, 1.8 on persona, 2.0 on waja…

SELEPAS kejayaan model pelbagai guna (MPV) Exora, Proton Holdings Bhd (Proton) akan melancarkan model sedan baru yang kapasiti enjinnya melebihi 1.6 liter dengan kerjasama Mitsubishi dalam enam bulan kedua 2010.
Pengarah Urusan Proton, Datuk Syed Zainal Abidin Syed Mohamad Tahir, berkata pengeluaran model baru dengan kuasa enjin lebih besar itu perlu kerana penting bagi Proton mengikut keperluan dan selera pelanggan.
Menurutnya, mulai tahun depan juga, Proton akan menawarkan beberapa model baru versi turbo kerana ia sentiasa memantau apa yang digemari pelanggan.
“Program turbo Campro adalah bagi semua model yang akan kami keluarkan pada masa akan datang. Ini sebahagian daripada pembangunan teknologi kami dan bukan hanya di Malaysia, malah juga di negara lain.
“Memandangkan kami syarikat kereta global, kami perlu ada program yang boleh diterima di peringkat global dan turbo sememangnya menjadi perkara biasa di Eropah,” katanya pada Persidangan Automotif Antarabangsa Kuala Lumpur di PWTC, kelmarin.
Menurut Syed Zainal, program turbo dibangunkan keseluruhannya oleh Proton bersama Lotus.
“Ini sebahagian pembangunan enjin kami dan sebagai sebuah syarikat kereta, kami perlu terus melakukannya,” katanya.
Mengenai persaingan MPV Exora dengan model yang bakal ditawarkan Perodua tahun ini, Syed Zainal berkata, syarikat mempunyai strategi sendiri untuk mengekalkan penguasaan pasaran.
“Proton bukan saja mengeluarkan kenderaan bagi pasaran domestik malah bagi pasaran eksport. Julai ini, kami akan melancarkannya di Indonesia, Thailand dan Timur Tengah,” katanya.
Syed Zainal berkata, Proton perlu memandang ke hadapan dan tidak menganggap Malaysia sebagai pasaran tunggalnya.

with or without IAFM? If without, then they could just be clearing the stock of the old Campro. Maybe not airbag, but any cars should be sold with at least ABS these days.
Oh and have they improved the manual tranny for the Saga, its supposed to have a sucky stick the last time around. Otherwise, its one powerful car.
Aiyo, it is a plain and simple reason why Proton is releasing this 1.6 Saga, this was meant to be the taxi version, however many companies were unwilling to change/upgrade from the current iswara.
Specs is as per the 1.6 saga taxi, even the color is red.

1. Saga 1.6 adalah bagus bagi mereka2 yang guna keta sbagai work horse / long distance. aku pon tak sure saga 1.3 ada prob @pun tak… tapi at least mereka2 yg mengejar masa & low cost akan opt for saga 1.6L. Bukan ke ini lebih baik dari kereta kebal…!

hi-spec saga: abs, ebd, dual airbag, cruise ctrl, 1.6 iafm (at least)
1.6 if it run on 13inch wheel 175 wheel, not matched it,
go for some previous honda city 15inch wheel, or vios 15inch.
with 50 series, it look like a stadard factory big wheel due to its 5.5inch width, very nice looks like factory sports,
but if you go for jrd, brm, volk, etc aftermarkets, saga will look ugly because of 6inch wide of the rim, its look like buggy, and cheap too obvious offset.

Yes, Proton are 25 years. But for early 12 years are the time that assamble the car not do R&D manifacturing. Cars from other countries are more expensive because of the TAXES and DUTIES IMPOSED UPON THEM TO PROTECT PROTON. Get your facts right, please. i think the idea of a 1.6 saga is good. now they need to add a bit more creature comforts to it. maybe an auto trans, and at least power windows behind. but proton needs to be careful not to upset the other 1.6 cars in its range like the persona.
this car gonna be a monster. I just can't imagine small saga with 1.6 under hood. It should be super fast especially in hiway.

Yup, all others manufacturers also making loss.
Better get the true news,and also read in details why losses was made. Proton is expanding and it's using plenty of their reserves for developing new model, such as EXORA and BLM, and new Lotus Evora by LOTUS. 2007/08 year's profit was due to large volume sales of Gen2 rebadge at China. Last year they are expanding their manufacturing facilities and r&d. So i still confident all this losses can be covered, looks like another 3-4 years i think.

If they add creature comforts, then obvoiusly they'll upset all the other cars in the Proton stable. Who would want to buy a Persona if they can get a simliarly specced Saga 1.6 for cheaper. That's why the creature comforts are lacking in this model

I don't want touch anymore about tax coz i have said many time about imported car tax. Pitty. I try told the truth but ppl still not understand. Maybe nowdays ppl that work in office more knowlageble on import export & manufacturing buissenes rather than ppl do this work. I have my own fact & i not Proton sympathiser but i support local product & we are lucky coz we have our own auto industry that have been improve & accepted out of malaysia. Let's say like this, if we don't have any Malaysia product u think that malaysia can survive if all investor shift to other country ?. I can pay current tax & keep the car until became junk rather be impose after 5 to 8 year like singapore doing now. U know that not only proton get this benefit but also all car that CDK & CBU also get this benefit (produa & naza get also even not truely national car). the news article on the turbo is interesting. maybe next year can get the proton exora with turbo (just like the peugeot 5008 which has 1.6 engine with turbo that produces 210bhp).
putting a turbo on a saga blm 1.3 will put proton up against myvi / vios / city. also replace the waja with a model using exora chassis, saga blm style body, 1.6 turbo engine and sell it at rm60k. and a dsg transmission (i am so used to the savvy amt). that would be awesome !
by the way, in indonesia the city and vios sells for the same price levels as in malaysia. so proton should be good in indonesia but need to have more service network.

How fast can u speed in Malaysia? There's owez a limit in speeding here. i've already bought BLM 1.3 and i have no regreat owning it. Futhermore the price of petrol RON 97 and 95 will be increased in the end of the year according to a person who worked directly in the gas/oil market. otherwise think about the tools and mentainance.. Malaysian suka berlagak but brain kosong..

kalau u selalu bawa untuk long distance, better u take the 1.6 (if still available). If you comfort with auto transmission, why not take 1.3AT, easy to drive. But if you kaki modified in the future and looking for performance, better try for 1.6MT (only available on MT by the way)

yeah, i was thinking of dat too.. anyhow saga is bigger than other of my car list.. i'm ok with MT.. thought of taking the 1.3 MT metallic.. or as u said if still available i would go for 1.6.. i would love to modify as well.. but i think its better to get a normal version n will go for modifying afterwards.. its doesnt bother at all… heehee.. anyway, thanks far east :)

hi HOHO, yes its true saga blm 1.6 is for tazi.. but now open to public a few unit but dont know still available or not.. u must contact branches for more information.. some of branch i've call have no stock already..

aku dah pakai iswara 1.3 lama usia dah 16 tahun dah habis bayar dah.boleh ke aku trade in ambil saga baru ni. Enjin pun best besar dari 1.3 dulu.Mesti power ni.
Kalau ada di pasaran lagi lah.. cuba lah tanye.. body tahun 2008 kete ni..
enjine campro 1.3L is enough for malaysian. maximum on highway just 110km/h. if you drover over than that speed…kena saman =.=||
so yg lain kalo nak beli 1.6 or what sendiri suka la ^^ if my suggest la…1.6 engine ok punya…torq n performance stable than 1.3 good luck

Dah 5 bulan saya menggunakan BLM 1.6(M) versi teksi. Masalah kereta ini terlalu banyak. Ketika mendaki bukit curam biasa (kg.kerinci, bangsar, damansara height) guna gear 1, enjin menjerit meminta gear 2 tetapi setelah masuk gear 2 enjin terus lembab mintak gear 1 semula… campro memang tak bagus untuk town. Suspensi pun teruk jugak terutama ketika memandu lebuhraya plus. 100km/h masih ok cuma kadang kala membuai ketika angin kuat. Jangan sesekali cuba memotong bas atau lori dengan kelajuan lebih dari 120km/h, kereta akan mebuai dengan teruk. Bayangkan kalau memandu 180km/h? Nescaya kereta saga BLM ni melayang ke divider kanan. Saya kerap memandu Proton Satria 1.5(4G91) saya 190km/h tanpa sebarang masalah. Handbrake juga kurang berkesan. Compressor aircond terlalu bising dan sering mengganggu prestasi sebenar enjin terutama ketika jalan jem. Ketika kerap membrek pula terutama turun dari genting highland akan kedengaran bunyi kasar dari drum belakang. Servis proton juga mahal. Untuk servis 20,000km anda kena standby RM600. Kesimpulannya saya terpaksa membeli juga kerana tiada pilihan untuk teksi. Anda fikirlah sendiri. Duit poket masing-masing.

setakat ni aku dah pakai blm 1.6 dah setahun 2 bulan….aku tak paham nape ko kate servis 20k RM600, walhal aku buat RM320 je untuk 10,000 kilometer
untuk 5000 kilometer, RM240
setakat ni aku ok je dengan blm 1.6 aku, aku rase care pemanduan ko yang kasar, bukan kereta tu yang kasar…
*untuk tiap tiap 10 ribu kilometer dan tiap tiap 5 ribu kilometer selepas servis 20k
encik far east- servis 5000km mahupun 10000km say dah lalui.. saya memandu 250-300km setiap hari.. maksud saya servis yang ke empat (20000km). pernah encik cuba memandu berseorangan memotong bas di plus highway dengan kelajuan 120-130km/h? cuba dulu baru tau… encik pernah naik dan turun genting highland waktu tengahari pada hari yang sama? cuba dulu baru tau.. encik pernah ‘redah’ kesesakan jalanraya selama 3jam dengan putaran aircond suhu penuh? cuba dulu baru tau? encik pernah cuba membawa muatan penuh (4orang) melalui jalan berbukit di bandar? damasara height? bangsar? pantai dalam? kg.tunku? cuba dulu baru tau..

yup, aku dah cuba semua tu, aku bukan beli kereta nak simpan dalam garaj, sebab tu aku tahu
servis 20 ribu kilomter di proton sc, RM240 untuk minyak semi synthetic (tahan 5 ribu km servis) dan RM320 untuk minyak fully syntetic (tahan 10 ribu km servis)
setakat ni aku pergi balik kl-penang seminggu 3 kali takde masalah, cuma untuk kesedapan dan keselesaan memandu, aku tukar sistem absorber dengan spring dan memang selesa
kalau kate nak tahan tengah panas jem, selalu jugak sangkut dari jalan tun razak ke jalan ampang hampir tiap tiap hari, kadang kadang dekat bukit bintang sangkut jugak
jalan tak landai tak jadi masalah, so far memang takde masalah
kalau ade problem, bawak komplen pergi proton service centre, kondem kat sini pon takde gune, semua dalam tempoh warranty lagi, kalau gear 1 dan 2 ade problem, hantar balik ke service centre untuk setting balik, over ram je tu
kereta aku dulu 2 bulan pakai dah ade problem bunyi kat enjin, hantar service centre terus hilang bunyi tu sampai sekarang
atau pun kalau banyak sangat masalah, jual je keter blm 1.6 tu, ramai lagi kat luar tu yang tengah cari nak pakai blm 1.6 :-)
Salam.. teman salah sorang owner 1.6 bukan teksi.. so far berpuas hatilah dengan performance engine kete ni, takder masalah. dah setahun guna milage nak cecah 40k dah.
top speed penah try kat MEX hiway dapat 190++kmh( xberani nk tekan lebih lagi) kete enjin stendet. menten hiway 140kmh ke utara ok steady xde goyang(naik 2 orang). cuma risau brake system je almaklumlah belakang drum brake. Bunyi Compresor aircond mmg bising lah.!
teman pun xpasti ada perbezaan spefikasi antara utk BLM teksi dgn jual kat public tuh.. rasanya harga utk dibuat teksi berlainan dengan harga jual kepada public (RM 39k)..

aku rase kamu ni tak payah pakai proton, kamu layak pakai honda atau toyota, eh atau perodua, eh mungkin kamu ni jurujual perodua? eh aku tak nak cetek kan pemikiran macam kamu
bagi aku senang, buat macam abang aku, die beli proton waja 1.6 first model dulu, pakai setahun 2 bulan macam tu je, tapi ntah mane silap, banyak sangat problem dari enjin ke wiring, terus die jual keter tu amik keter lain
mungkin lah encik aery ni boleh follow step yang same ;-)
kene ingat sekali lagi, proton punya QC lemah lagi, dalam 400 bijik 1.6 yang dikeluarkan untuk dijual, akan ade yang datang dengan kualiti tak bape nak elok, same macam kereta kereta lain..tapi kalau takat nak kondem dan komplen, tapi tak reti reti nak komplen kat service centre proton, pon takde gune…dalam tempoh warranty ni, pergi sampai glenmarrie pn takpe untuk komplen
satu lagi fakta nak diperbetul, 1.6 ni bukan spec teksi, spec 1.6 ni asal untuk pasaran australia (kalau tengok sekarang market australia dah masuk saga 1.6 bermacam warna)
pada mula nak masuk pasaran, kompeni yang menguruskan jualan proton di sana telah membatalkan pembelian batch pertama proton 1.6, tu yang jadi lambakan 400 bijik untuk dijual dalam market malaysia

untuk bagi senyap sikit bunyi dari enjin dengan kompressor aircond tu, boleh pegi kedai aksesori, install sound proof dekat bonet depan dengan pintu depan kiri dan kanan

If your car rase macam goyang atau terbuai ditiup Angin when driving at above 100km/h is due to your car rear Axle toe-in is out of spec. Senang cerita QC fail lah.
You will notice that your rear left tyre will be the first to wear-off. Then your rear bearing, then your front bearing…then….finally you will decide to rotate your tyre and rotate….and…. finally you’ll be facing the problem with your tyre STUD…. then… the list of problem will increase….. until you got fedup of complaining.

aku bengang betul ngan proton…cam sial…aku booked pada 13/6/2011 tapi sehingga skang 5/8/2011 tak dapat2 kereta…raya nak dekat…dah banyak kali call proton..jawapan hampa…no production…production kurang…kepala otak la wei…kalo gitu baik cakap kat sume jurujual proton jangan jual kat pelanggan 1.6saga…aku btl2 berbulu…bkn sekali call customer servis..banyak kali…tunggu 2 hingga 3 bln jawapan….KALO MACAM NIE LA PROTON, TAK PAYAH LA JUAL KETE!!!!!!!!!!!!GERAM BTL…
