Official renderings of the 2014 Hyundai Genesis have been released, previewing the Korean carmaker’s all-new luxury sedan. The large rear-wheel drive premium offering will replace the original Genesis sedan in its home market by the end of 2013, before being rolled out to selected export markets next year.
Fully adopting Hyundai’s new ‘Fluidic Sculpture 2.0’ design philosophy, the production model is derived from the HCD-14 Genesis Concept shown earlier this year. It pairs a single-frame hexagonal grille up front with a complex, sculptural rear design. Future Hyundai models, including the next-gen Sonata, will be based on the new family look introduced here.
Hyundai believes that the improved second-generation Genesis will offer “best-in-class product competitiveness,” and be a game-changer in the market. The self-described world-class sedan encapsulates over four years of development, including stints at Hyundai’s new trackside test facility at the Nurburgring.
With new stability-enhancing electronic additions such as Advanced Traction Cornering Control (ATCC), the 2014 Genesis promises “top-class driving and ride and handling performances.” Passive and active safety has been significantly improved too, according to Hyundai.
Hyundai’s Australian arm has confirmed that local market business case for the full-size sedan (it measures just under five metres long) is under review. If it does make its right-hand drive debut in the near future, there’s a possibility that the Hyundai Genesis could make its way here.
That begs the question: would you consider a premium-priced Hyundai luxury sedan at all, even if it offers more than Mercedes E-Class/BMW 5 Series levels of technology and space for C-Class/3 Series money? That strategy has worked well enough in America to warrant a second-generation model, but Malaysia’s more brand conscious consumers could prove to be a tougher market to penetrate.
Looking to sell your car? Sell it with Carro.
How much do this trade in for a toyota? Sam loo any idea?
Actually I hate admitting this, but its gorgeous, clean modern crisp lines…if they made the Camry like this it would have destroyed the competition…
I will see more of this car in my yard in 2 years time. They will all be lined up beside the Mazda CX5 which have been traded in for half the original price.
People never learn, buy a Toyota for good RV. Any other car, you are asking for trouble.
What la u sam loo, always look for RV, then better ride a bicycle. if RV is your priority dont even think of having a car. all cars depreciate in value.
Why buy now? 1 year later, you will get it for less than 1/2 the price
Both Sam family losers only can comment on RV. Loser being loser, budak kecil comment.
Still a korean junk. am not a jap fanboy but korean products are junks.
Korean you pay RM1 for RM0.50 quality.
Jap you pay RM1 for get RM1.00 quality.
German you pay RM1 for RM1.50 quality.
China you pay RM0.10 for RM0.10 quality.
Korean products together with LG, Samsung, Hyundai, Kia are junks.
1 year warranty means last 1 year only. Unlike Jap and German, 1 year warranty means will last for 2 to 3 years.
Just YouTube Samsung SuXX or Hyundai SuXX… then compare it with jap or german products.
Korean Junks!!!!! rubbish, better ride horse.
Oh. Is that so? You wanna read this report then?
http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/car-news/consumer-news/62383/german-cars-among-worst-engine-failures
Our own personal experiences are worth much more than this cooked-up reports.
I have to agree with Jeremy on this. Antaras or Puta-ras, whatever your name is, you should know by now that the English always downgrade the Germans and French because both these countries are more successful than England.
So please just base on global sales figures to identify who are actually the success stories and who are not.
A lot of Jeremy Clarkson fans here. They believe him 100%.
that report is based on claims data, not some hack journalist’s review. grow a brain.
also, it shows the probability of failure. YOU might have experienced some engine failure (you totally deserved it as that’s god’s way of punishing stupid people) but hundreds of other people haven’t. you know, basic statistics they taught you in school. in next life maybe you should’ve paid more attention in class
Your statement reflects why you are still in school while your classmates have graduated and working with high paying salaries and buying big continental cars
Hey “hah”, you still in school ah? You were my batch SPM 1995. Im driving Mercedes S class now. What are you driving? Oh yeah, i forgot. You’re still in school!
Koreans are well known for paying people to praise their product and trash their competitors.
Give me a German car over Hyudai junk anytime. You will do the same too.
http://www.theverge.com/2013/10/24/5023658/samsung-fined-340000-for-posting-negative-htc-reviews
Koreans are well known for paying people to drop comments praising their products and trashing their competitors.
all fake comments. go google about all the lawsuits.
korean junks… better ride a cow than that hyundai junk
I wish u have one…
I mean the cow
Your ‘value’ logic: you paid 300k for a German car you actually got a car worth 450k. Does it make sense? And the Chinese cars actually as good as Japanese cars, at least according to your logic. Are you high or something?
hypothetically speaking, not as in real value in money. value in quality.
you must be a Korean Junk fanboy.
probably high and stupid
angry bird spotted
Agree, I had enough of these korean junk, never ever again buy any korean junk again.
Yup Korean cars r junk, under power, poor fuel economy, bad handling and low quality!
Legendary build quality and reliability ended with the W124 and W140.
Ask owners of the newer Mercedes owners and see what they say.
i own a 10 y/o w220 s280 previously own by my mom…a lot of the parts last ….the reason people say w140 is the last great merc is later gen comes with all the electronic parts esp/abs/bas etc etc…those seats with weight censor that send the weight measure to the airbag, air suspension that auto levels the car etc etc..that’s why people say the last great reliable one is w140…mechanically my car still works great…flawlessly smooth..as smooth as that hot milf’s(I’m comparing my car to a certain milf)my water pumps last till 230k km when i send it to service the mechanic advise me to change with the fuel pumps….other then that everything pretty much ok!even the “ohhhhhhhh so screwed airmatic” gave me no issues,of course i do change the airmatic and it;s pump according to the manual books recommendation(150k km) so far nothing fails.except for the esp/bas thingy..but my mechanic tell me no need to change the cesor, just dust point off…that;s all.
Yeah, but I’d rather have the car die than me die, so I’ll take all the ESP, ABS, airbags and what not.
Very fuel guzzler, expensive maintenance and parts. Not a people’s car. Better change car before it change your account balance
Toyota you pay RM1 for RM 100.00 quality!
And it still will be worth RM1 after you drive it out of the showroom!
Sam what value you know from Toyota ? Is only RV ok. And RV is not you say pls check with used car dealer if he can only trade in 50k and you ask for 60k the dealer will only give you Banana ok Talk RV.
Jim if you don’t how to compare Korean, Japan & German car pls don’t share you stupid experience.
Its the same as the Kia QUORIS
i thought aston martin..until i read the title
Yes! I thought it was Aston Martin as well.
BMW 5 Series headlights and lines and Audi grill on a Mazda6 face.
Malaysians are brand concious partly because of the lousy service provided by our distributors, namely Sime Darby & Naza.
Recently my air con compressor magnetic coil kaput and I prefer to fix it at my own expense outside for a few hundred bucks. Claiming from Naza will take at least 2 weeks, meanwhile how do I drive?
hmm..front look weird, does not proportionate with the head lamp, hope it look better in flesh.
I do not like the grill, that’s all I can say but other than that, Fluidic Sculpture 2.0 is really much more balance and elegant design over the original ‘fluidic sculpture’ in which I personally dislike, at least in this one.
when are these kind of cars coming into malaysia?they only give us crap models
this is no different…this is crappy too!!!
Looks good… and while there is no doubt that Hyundai is certainly moving up the pecking order but its a tall claim for them to say its “best in class”.
Especially when stacked up against the E and 5er.
Interesting no less. Looks like a better preposition that the Acura TL.
The problem with the Genesis is the Hyundai brand…and Hyundai knows it. Even the Genesis didn’t have the “H” logo when it first launched. Its not easy to elevate oneself to the luxury market. Mazda failed with its Amati brand, and Honda only had limited success with its Acura brand.
The front grill look like current Peugout 508 !
Was the first gen ever sold here? Dont think ive seen any around. Anyways, it was boring looking. But this new Genesis is much better looking. Well, if it offered 3 series money for a 5 series, and handling is good, why not? But if the RWD platform doesnt live up to its reputation, then no way. Better stick with a Merc, BMW, or Lexus.
merc and bmw?yes…lexus?boooooooring!!!!
All Hyundai n Kia cars are good to look but not good to eat !
of course not good to eat…or ur talking methaphorically
It depend on what you need.
Just like you want your wife pretty, but cant cook
or
Fat Ugly but cook well.
Lexus is the most successful japanese luxury carmaker , follow by infiniti.
infinity does a better job…exquisite stuff!!lexus?mehhhhhh!!!
Lexus is for conform drive and no good in Handling.
Lets look at Lexus ES at RM259k except its FWD, we don’t talk about Merc and BMW yet.
What can a Genesis offer in order to be better than ES in Malaysia?
Volvo tank solidity, Lexus aftersales, S-class image, 7-series/A8 look.
In other words, at c-class/ES money, the car needs to be well design mechanically and aesthetically, with good aftersales, good safety features, with S-class size(E-class cabin size is not attractive enough) and advertisement(image), perhaps sell it to a few Michaels Jacksons and advertise.
I will still buy the Germans with those kind of $$, not even settling with Japs..
Korean cars are catching up fast. A few decades ago, much critisism were heaped at Japanese makes. Look where they are now. Just like Samsung phones, I never thought of owning one but now using one to type the comments here. I for one will give the Koreans a benefit of doubt.
Give them benefit of the doubt? I have given lots of it in the last 5 years, now not anymore.
Well done, you bought a Korean car when they were junk. And now that they are ok…
read the reviews…even top gear always praise korean car…maybe its not as good as the german..but look at the price and they always put it together at great satisfactory level
lordddddyyyy!!!!!”even” topgear…topgear is an entertainment show that deal with cars!!!!just because top gear say so doesnt mean it really is!!!!top gear say e46 m3 cal use a cardboard trunk!!!you going to believe that too son???
lol typical Malaysian “dijajah” mentality. every car must have Top Gear/Jeremy Clarkson approval or something ah? Top Gear is just an entertainment show, and doesn’t even help much to understand more about cars.
Go watch real car shows/video series, like Fifth Gear (it was the original format of Top Gear), CNET On Cars, Autocar, Best Motoring and EVO
wannabe car for those who cannot afford european. nice try, but still poor rubbish car for poor people.
Lexus is for conform drive and no good in Handling.
Didn’t know Hyundai uses Mazda’s Kodo soul of motion design language… lol
This car has many copy and paste design, grill copy mazda 6 kodo, headlight BMW 5 series, side view bmw 5 series, rear view back to mazda 6 again. tat all i can see and say
Result looks good. You mad?
wow..this is out of the typical hyundai at the front end..
To me kia and hyundai is successfully penetrate the luxury segment.Unlike toyota which need to rebrand to Lexus .Hyundai-Kia certainly more confident with their brand
Koreans have achieved the No. 1 in the lowest resale value category in the entire world
how can you judge this car by pictures?
Once they are on the street, survey (paultan) it, try it, then you judge it! they have not even put it in the market yet!
semua ini poyo!
btw, those are some beautifully rendered genesis!!!
