Goodyear Malaysia has revealed the latest addition to its Assurance range, the Goodyear Assurance DuraPlus. Developed for small- to mid-sized passenger vehicles, the new tyre has been engineered to last up to 100,000 km – equivalent to traveling around the world approximately two and a half times over.
The tyre features Goodyear’s TredLife Technology which utilises a carbon-heavy compound in its construction to significantly improve its lifespan. A larger tread width design, or “wide face cavity” as Goodyear calls it, allows for a wider surface of the tyre to come into contact with the road. The Goodyear Assurance Duraplus also adopts an asymmetric tread design for increased levels of grip.
Additionally, Goodyear’s latest also boasts DuPont Kevlar in its construction. The lightweight, “military-grade” equipment is said to maintain the tyre’s stiffness under extreme temperature during operation while providing that extra blanket of reinforcement against road hazards.
To further augment its credentials, the Goodyear Assurance DuraPlus tyre was subjected to a 100,000 km mileage test, following which the recorded tread depth was marked at 1.6 mm – the minimum tread depth allowed for road tyres.
The Assurance DuraPlus tyre is covered under Goodyear Malaysia’s Worry Free Assurance Programme. As part of the programme, the tyre is warranted against damages from punctures, cuts and/or bruises sustained during the “course of normal driving on a maintained road.” Within six months, customers will receive a complimentary replacement should said tyre possess a tread depth of more than 6.7 mm.
Should the tyre possess a tread depth between 5.5 mm to 6.6 mm, Goodyear Malaysia will credit against the purchase of a new tyre of the exact same size and model. At present, a total of seven sizes are available with prices ranging from RM226 to RM325, inclusive of GST. Wheel sizes span from 14- to 15-inchers while available profiles range from 55 to 70 series.
A total of 43 sizes of the Goodyear Assurance DuraPlus exists with Goodyear Malaysia announcing plans to introduce a wider selection in the near future. The Assurance DuraPlus is now available at all Goodyear Autocare and Servitekar outlets as well as authorised dealers nationwide.
Looking to sell your car? Sell it with Carro.
Only for tires purchased at the authorized Good Year dealer.
Klang Hin Leong not included.
might be durable, but quite noisy.
Only replace one tire? That is dangerous. Normally left and right need to have the same wear.
The girls are pretty and cute!
My take is the stripes tee :)
Have they corrected on the quality issues on previous Assurance Tyres? Would you ever trust the VW DSG even after assurance from VW?
MUTIPLE GOOD YEAR TYRES FAILURE http://autoworld.com.my/forum/index.php?showtopic=102417&hl=
I think that GT radial tyres or achilles are having a higher failure rate than Goodyear. I know of some suprima owners who have experienced blowouts and, disintegrating thread blocks (on my own vehicle)
Are they quiet? I’m looking for tires with low rolling noise to replace the ones I’m currently using. Anyone has any good recommendations?
This tyre are meant to be hard and durable…normal tyres last about 40,000KM but this last 100,000KM~~
Anyway, as they are hard, they normally make a hell lot of noise….
Goodyear, err tbh I will avoid if I could. Too bad, the car I have only supports a size that is only made by Goodyear and Kumho. Unless of course I change the size (which I don’t think would be a good idea for now since it is under warranty).
The NCT5s I have are hopeless, noisy on the dry and crap traction on the wet. Its amazing how you can easily break traction, and what’s worse is being a car without ESP, you need to really be careful when modulating the gas pedal. Mind you from a car with 90 bhp!
Side note, the mileage I got from that set of rubbers was pretty rubbish too. Normally my tyres last till about 30000km, but these had the sidewalls cracked after 22k. Yep.
Mirrors my experience with NCT 5’s.
Had them as standard tyre on 2 different new cars. Rubbish. Noisy (they tend to wear unevenly, so after 10k or so, it scallops and gets noisy), crap grip, and don’t last…and expensive for the same class of tyre.
Switched them both to Yokohama C-Drives.
I wont go near GY other than the high performance F1 series.
FWIW, The Michelin PS3 is still one of the best all-rounders if one doesn’t mind trading in some ride comfort for performance and reliability. I’ve run 3 sets to the nylons, with no problems…even holds air with a nail in it.
Perfect tyres for my son’s suprima s
so noisy
These are the worst tyres I have ever driven on in the wet, absolutely dangerous and wouldn’t recommend them to anybody.
Have done about 3500 kms on them and will be replacing them shortly.
