Malaysia vehicle sales data for June 2015 by brand

Driven 2014 Ep3 D-Segment Battle- 2

The auto industry in Malaysia is not looking all that rosy, based on the sales results of the first half of 2015. Sales so far this year, including both passenger and commercial vehicles, has seen a marginal 3.3% decrease compared to the same period in 2014 (322,184 vs 333,156 units).

As such, the Malaysian Automotive Association has revised its full year Total Industry Volume (TIV) forecast down from 680,000 to 670,000 units. That’s still 0.5% higher than the 2014 TIV of 666,465, though.

As for the month of June 2015, though, total sales have increased significantly by 12.1%. Exactly 57,437 units of new cars were registered, compared to 51,254 in May.

We have compiled MAA’s sales data in the table below, sorted by the top performing brands in June 2015. As expected, given that it’s the month leading up to Hari Raya, most companies registered positive moves.

Interestingly enough, however, Perodua is the only brand in the top 20 list to have sold less vehicles compared to the month prior. Perodua registered 16,475 units in June, 815 less than in May. In stark contrast is Proton, which went up by 11.9% in the same month.

Not many surprises lie further down the table. Toyota (8,989 units, up 19.0%) and Honda (8,668, up 39.3%) are neck and neck in third and fourth places, though Honda is still up in third place overall in terms of year-to-date performance. As always, Nissan (3,765, up 14.0%) is fifth on the list, though it sold less than half of what Toyota/Honda managed.

Elsewhere, Isuzu (+35.2%), Ford (+56.7%), Mitsubishi (+33.0%) and Volkswagen (+38.1%) all registered big strides. Left with less positive numbers are Chevrolet (-22.9%), Land Rover (-25.8%) and Renault (-41.5%).

Benz beat Mazda sales in April, 2015.
also. as for now, Benz is still closely behind MAzda.

          Benz, starting price RM200k.
          MAzda, starting price RM80k..

Mazda is much cheaper, but the sales figure, not at least double of Benz.

Why people do not prefer Mazda? It is all about RV.

Thus you see the pathetic Hyundai and Kia have even less sales.

Sales figure tell you RV is IMPORTANT!!!

P1 has more model & covers a wider range of buyers compare to P2. So if majority of P2 market comes from mid and below level, this shows the GST & inflation is affecting this group of ppl and has less $$$ to buy/change new car.

            look at the bigger picture…

      • Campro inefficient on Jul 29, 2015 at 11:27 am

When the new Civic 1.5L turbo with 180HP and 260Nm comes out next year your CFE only has 138HP and 205Nm.
Even Toyota is going turbocharged with their latest 2.0L engine having 245HP and 350Nm
When compare with other turbo engines, CFE has less HP, less torque and worst fuel efficiency.
        Masih mau CFE lagi??

Hahaha the typical Proton fanboy comment. When compare with other turbo engines will have all sort of excuses and reasons but compare CFE with other NA engines instead suddenly its justified!!
Just admit it. Turbo vs turbo Proton CFE is at the lowest end of the spectrum.
NA vs NA Proton cars like the Saga, Persona, Iriz ain’t winning also in terms of efficiency or power.
Conclusion is throw Campro out and get other better engines.

Having lost rm800 juta last financial year,it may lose another 600-700 juta this financial year cos of ‘R and D’ costs for Iriz and ailing stepson Lotus.

Wow!! VW bulit a RMxxx million plant in Pekan but selling less than 700 cars a month!!. -veROI for sure. Kia + peugeot sales is surprisingly less than 1000 units.

VW should up the ante for its “Mobility gaurantee” by topping up warranty period base on the number of days of each VW cars had stayed in a VW worshop. Example; If its had stayed 30days in VW workshop to get its parts in and have it fixed then warranty should be 5 years + 30days.
