In conjunction with National Day celebrations, a number of major roads in KL will be closed to traffic from today until Monday – The Star reports that eighteen routes around Dataran Merdeka will be affected by the closures, which will be closed from 6 am daily and reopened in stages by noon every day.
The closures around Dataran Merdeka are to facilitate preparations for the celebrations on August 31, city traffic police chief Asst Comm Mohd Nadzri Hussain said.
He said that only those who will be on duty on National Day will have access to Dataran Merdeka through Bulatan Dato Onn-Jalan Gereja so that they can park their vehicles in the underground parking lot. Around 7,000 people are expected to participate in the Merdeka celebrations.
He added that exceptions will be made for VVIPs, VIPs, ambassadors and those with an official invitation to attend the celebrations. Chartered buses, meanwhile, will be allowed to drop off and pick up participants near Dataran Merdeka, but drivers will be required to adhere to assigned routes and by a specific time.
The roads affected by the closure are:
Jalan Travers/Jalan Damansara (Muzium Negara)
Jalan Mahameru/Jalan Damansara (Carcosa)
Jalan Mahameru/Jalan Damansara (Muzium Negara ramp)
Bulatan Hishamuddin/Jalan Lembah (Masjid Negara)

“We will allow the buses to drop off participants at Dataran Merdeka until 7 am, but any later than that, the participants will have to be dropped off outside the cordoned areas,” ACP Nadzri said.
He reminded motorists to be mindful of this, stating that police will take stern action against those who park at cordoned areas and obstruct traffic, and this will include issuing summonses.
Looking to sell your car? Sell it with Carro.

Wahai Orang Orang Kampung, sedar lah. Buka mata anda. Musuh anda bukan kaum lain tetapi kerajaan anda sendiri yang suka curi duit anda sendiri.
Government cannot even solve their own party corruption, now they want to close roads 6 days before Merdeka?? close roads for Merdeka or to hamper Bersih?
So much of jam yesterday. Millions lost from productivity just to protect one man from Bersih.
One man can songlap 2.6 billion is just one news we know. What about the other times he songlap that we don’t know about? I think it runs to hundreds of billions.
Taib songlap US$20 billion (RM80 billion) also nothing happen to him. Infact he was rewarded for his songlap and made Governor
what about the songlaps by the other Menteri and Government officials?
It all runs to hundreds of billions per annum the Songlap.
We cannot close roads and hamper business and productivity because songlap is now donation and tolerated.
Jangan persoal dear leader kim jong jib
Perhimpunan Bersih 3 hari dikata merugikan peniaga2 di situ. Penutupan jalan 6 HARI untuk sambutan kemerdekaan tak merugikan peniaga kah??
Build Putrajaya for berpuluh billions. Say want to move everything there as administrative capital. So many UMNO cronies made hundreds of millions each free money.
Now, Merdeka also should be in Putrajaya. Why build Putrajaya when all the gomen offices were fine in Kuala Lumpur City Centre 15 yrs ago?
This clearly shows, many dumbno people made lots of money building Putrajaya which is a waste of money.
All out to frustrate BERSIH 4! Imagine 6 days of road closure to facilitate preparations. Never recall this happening before.
Illegal or not, haram or not, road close or not, I still will go for Bersih.
nothings can stop the ppls from yellowing the street!
and i wonder why people spend millions to live in the city…
yellow yellow everywhere!
Really? You guys are complaining road closure for our MERDEKA CELEBRATION??? seriously i guess there is no need for rehearsals and whatnot for the participants? (Btw just to let you know, road closure for merdeka celebration is a yearly event, its not like they suddenly introduce it this year)
maybe what the govt should do is just let everything let loose in 31 aug and hope for the best that the celebration goes well.
And i bet the guys that are commenting here have never been to dataran merdeka to see the celebration live.
Just do the merdeka celebration in Putrajaya lah!!!….Merdeka celebration pun kasi susah orang KL.
Specifically, do it in front of Seri Perdana in Putrajaya, Heck, do it in front of Jibby so the organizer could bodek bodek the PM….
just for the the heck of it Maria should call off Bersih.then we see the jokers kelam kabut and open the roads again.
then suddently announce that it is on again. then we will know if all the drama is really for merdeka or to curtail bersih.
