Proton Edar appoints Rohime Shafie as new CEO

rohime shafie

No shortage of activity at national carmaker Proton with regards to changes in management and key personnel – last week, it was announced that Proton Holdings was getting a new CEO, and two days ago, Proton chairman Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamed announced his resignation from the post.

Now, we hear that there are some changes at Proton Edar as well. Apparently, CEO Norzahid Mohd Zahudi – who was appointed as Edar’s CEO in October 2014 – has been assigned to Proton Holdings’ CEO office as a special officer, and replacing him in the position at Edar is Proton Holdings’ chief financial officer (CFO), Rohime Shafie.

As reported previously, the new man in the Proton Holdings hot seat – effective from today – is Datuk Ahmad Fuaad Kenali, who was previously DRB-HICOM’s CFO. He replaces Datuk Abdul Harith Abdullah, who was appointed to the post of CEO in April 2014.

In the announcement made on March 24, the company also said that a new deputy CEO had been appointed – Datuk Radzaif Mohamed, currently DRB-HICOM COO in charge of Automotive Distribution & Manufacturing, is the new No 2 at the national carmaker.

Paksa org beli kereta proton yg x ada kualiti… Bkn aku yg ckp kereta proton x ada kualiti. Menteri yg ckp. Mcm mn menteri tahu, sbb proton sendiri mengaku kereta dia ada isu kualiti. Jd buat apa cerita panjang? Tutup aje proton.

No amount of COO or CEO changes can save ailing protong.
The car enthusiasts have already MIGRATED to buy Perodua and the other Japanese marques.
They got tired of the RM1.5 Billion Grant fiasco, that protong is begging the botak to give.
When a company has QC,management, finance problems and low staff moral, are you willing to buy any Proton vehicle? You may end up with a half baked car.
The only promotion worth fanboys considering is “BUY 1 PERSONA,FREE 1 SAGA OR BUY 1 SUPRIMA,FREE 1 IRIZ.”

Lets face it, the best selling Proton model is the Saga and this Saga also ‘kena ketuk’ by P2’s Axia, not the Suprima or the Presona, like that how to survive the next 50 years?

“Proton will still operated for next 50 years”
        What f..up English is this?
Proton may not last 5 months if the Arab Santa or gomen refuse to assist cancer stricken Proton.
MY poor friend at Proton Shah Alam said suppliers are daily trying to see the stupid CFO to get payment.
Proton has become a BAD PAYMASTER,in HOKKIEN..simply ‘CHOW KAR’.
Rating agencies HAve BLACKLISTED poor Protong.
Whats the point of Lotus ride and handling,if nobody wants to buy your car,Proton?
Lotus is also going for bankruptcy protection very soon, you stupid fool.

  • Its all over before it begins! Sigh.. the mastermind for the new Perdana is Tun Mahathir. I personally think Nurzahid is doing a good job over the last half a year to get back the sales in Proton. Its insane that suddenly they remove him and put Rohime in charge instead. Also, the appointment of DrB hicom Chief Financial officer as the new CEO of Proton is going to be the undoing of Proton. The moment and excitement of Proton this year is going to die off becauae they will continue with the same old philosophy-making cheap quality cars. Also everyone who deals with DRB Hicom knows who dato radzaif is. Its such a shame.. what the heck is the new MD of Drb hicom thinking putting these ppl in charge?? What the heck is Tan sri Syed Mokhtar thinking.. sigh..

the only option left for proton is to close down the company. for umpteen years, sucking public money directly or indirectly. tell me, how on earth a multi billion company to survive(unless with G assistance) if they don’t even have a sustainability business model to move forward.
