Most of Volvo’s powertrain-related limelight has been so far pointed in the direction of its T8 Twin Engine variants for its XC90, S90 and V90 models. However, the diesels that traditionally make up a large proportion of Volvo sales in Europe have not been overlooked by Heico Sportiv.
Heico’s tuning package for the D5 diesel power plant lifts output figures to 258 hp and 519 Nm of torque, increases over the standard unit of 23 hp and 39 Nm respectively. Heico Sportiv hasn’t offered definitive performance figures for the diesel model upgrades, but said “perceptible power development at medium and high engine speeds” can be expected.
The tuning package costs €2,425 (RM10,660), and Heico Sportiv says the tuning package does not affect emissions or service intervals. Additionally the tuning package comes with a 150,000 km warranty. In the future, the company is set to offer a variety of packages for other Volvo models with D4, T5, T6, and T8 engines.
