2024 MINI Countryman JCW Trim in Malaysia gallery – swansong for second-gen F60; priced from RM254k

The second-generation (F60) MINI Countryman facelift will soon be retired but before that happens, BWM Group Malaysia is celebrating the model with a limited-edition model that comes with exclusive John Cooper Works Trim. Here we’re bringing you a full gallery of the new Countryman JCW Trim.

Based on the existing Cooper S variant of the Countryman, the special offering retails for RM253,833 on-the-road without insurance. This price is with a standard two-year warranty, and if you want the extended four-year warranty, it’ll be RM264,233. Compared to regular Cooper S Countryman, you’re looking at a premium of RM3,445.

For the extra amount, you get the privilege of owning one of 168 units of the Countryman JCW Trim that are made available here. Each one comes with a John Cooper Works (JCW) aerodynamic package which includes a front apron with built-in air ducts as well as a diffuser element for the rear bumper.

Other distinctive cues are JCW door sill finishers, a rear spoiler and 19-inch JCW Circuit spoke wheels with run-flat tyres. You can order the vehicle in either British Racing Green, Chilli Red, Nanuq White and Sage Green, each in limited quantities to offer exclusivity. As for the interior, the special Countryman gets anthracite sun visors, dome light housing as well as anthracite-coloured pillars.

Given the variant it is based on, the engine is the same B48 2.0 litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine producing 192 PS from 5,000 to 6,000 rpm and 280 Nm of torque between 1,350 and 4,600 rpm. Drive is sent to the front wheels through a seven-speed sport dual-clutch transmission with paddle shifters, and performance-wise, the car manages the zero to 100 km/h sprint in 7.5 seconds on the way to a top speed of 226 km/h.

Standard kit includes keyless entry, push-button start, dual-zone automatic climate control with rear vents, auto-dimming mirrors, manual seat adjustment, parking assist, a head-up display, Apple CarPlay connectivity, a 12-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, a reverse camera, a rear picnic bench and a hands-free powered tailgate. For the first time, the JCW also gets a Qi wireless smartphone charger.

Standard kit includes keyless entry and start, power-adjustable front seats with driver’s side memory, a head-up display, dual-zone automatic climate control, a 12-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, a Qi wireless charger, wireless Apple CarPlay, a hands-free powered tailgate and the Driving Assistant package with autonomous emergency braking.

Considering the Mini Countryman S was released here back in 2014 for RM243,888 now this this cost RM254,000 after 10 years ain’t that bad considering how much Hyundai Elantra goes up from RM80k then RM120k (with turbo) and now RM160k even without turbo.

However do note that previously 2014 Countryman S is powered by the 1.6L Prince Turbo engine with 190PS & 240 Nm (260 Nm on overboost) while 10 years later the bigger engine 2.0L Turbo produces 192 PS from 5,000 to 6,000 rpm and 280 Nm while both consumes roughly the same fuel and century sprint.

Correction. 1.6l Prince Turbo engine stayed on the Mini Countryman until 2017. On the same year, F60 with 2.0l turbo engine was launched which it used until today. FYI facelift 2014 till 2017 model engine torque is fixed with 260Nm
