Mitsubishi begins i-MiEV joint testing with PTT in Thailand

It’s a step further towards going the EV route in Thailand for Mitsubishi – Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (MMC) has announced that its Thai subsidiary Mitsubishi Motors Thailand (MMTh) has begun joint testing of the i-MiEV with PTT Public Company Limited, which is the largest energy company in the country.

Mitsubishi Thailand has started specific testing with two power companies, these being Metropolitan Electricity Authority and PEA ENCOM, as part of its efforts towards researching consumer acceptability, marketability, as well as charging infrastructure in the kingdom.

PTT plans to install a quick charger at the PTT Research and Technology Institute by the end of this year, so both PTT and MMTh will actively cooperate in the research and the development of EV charging infrastructure.

How come Mitsubishi-i never came to Malaysia? Never did understand the logic in that. The real car is much bigger than Myvi, ( I guess, so will the price wise too), so it is not in direct compete with them. ( Have seen lots of them in Singapore road years ago, not now. and when drop by UK too.)
Anyway, when the gov’t start selling and installing the charging station for Saga EV, I hope this version of Mitsubishi-i will be make avb. here. Still quite like it.
P/S, Maybe Mitsubishi, can JV with our so many IPP companies in Malaysia.

do take note that it was previously reported that Japanese Gov give $10k (RM30k) subsidies for electric cars. UK also doing the same thing with £5000 (RM24k) rebate. that’s why it seems to be cheap in Japan and UK.
The cost of the Mitsubishi i MiEV in Japan falls from ¥4mil (RM165k) to ¥2.8mil (RM115K) after all government incentives are discounted from the sales price. price of nissan leaf in UK is £28,350, or RM137k!
only the rich can buy. it’s ok if our Gov exempt this car from taxes, but please don’t give subsidies to the riches…
