PLUS offering 30% Raya and Merdeka toll rebates, releases Travel Time Advisory to help traffic flow

PLUS highway users who pay electronically will enjoy a 30% toll rebate on August 15, 16, 22, 23 and 31, as part of a traffic dispersion strategy and to encourage more people to embrace electronic toll payment. The rebate can be redeemed at all PLUS customer centres from October 1 to the end of the year.

Exceptions are the Tanjung Kupang, Bukit Kayu Hitam, Bangunan Sultan Iskandar and the Penang Bridge toll plazas, which will not be offering rebates.

The highway concessionaire has also issued its Travel Time Advisory (TTA) to help motorists avoid excessive congestion during the holidays by suggesting ideal times to join the highway.

“We expect those in the Klang Valley to start leaving for their kampungs on August 17 and 18 (Friday and Saturday). As such, based on the TTA, we advise those heading towards Kedah, Perlis, Penang and Johor to enter the North-South Expressway before 12pm. Whereas those heading towards other destinations such as Kuala Kangsar, Changkat Jering, Taiping and Malacca can enter the highway between 12pm and 3pm,” said PLUS COO Mohammad Fuad Khusairi.

PLUS expects a 30% jump in North-South Expressway traffic to 1.4 million vehicles every day during this Hari Raya and Merdeka season. It has thus taken some steps to cope, including increasing staff, temporarily halting roadworks and providing Reload ‘n Go counters at 25 petrol stations on the highway.

If PLUS is serious in giving rebates, they should give it for the whole week

    • True, PLUS is not sincere in giving the rebates.

Look at their statement, “We expect those in the Klang Valley to start leaving for their kampungs on August 17 and 18 (Friday and Saturday)….”

BUT they only give rebates for people going back on the 15th and 16th! Give 1 week lah!!!

PLUS ask you to travel during non peak on the recommended date by giving rebates. This is to reduce that 1.4million vehicle per day during peak period. Oso to release their headache!

      • I agree.. plus the rebate is only 30%. If they are really serious should give 50% discount. Who owns majority of PLUS shares anyways? EPF?

kalau aku cakap ni mesti orang marah gila-gila. Patutnya highway naikkan tol on peak season supaya tak jam, tambah pekerja untuk handle kawasan parking dan tingkatkan rondaan baru la ada kelas balik kampung nak raya. Macam hotel buat, time peak harga tinggi dan tambah staff. ini tak, kata nak elakkan jam, pegi buat diskaun berderu-deru la keta masuk highway pas tu stuck, rugi je bayar tol drive avg 30km/j dari KL sampai Juru, gila ke apa.. adios..

Saya tak marah. Abang kuriang baca balik.
Dikaun untuk orang yang bayar cara elektronik saja.
      Iaitu dengan touch & go.
Kalau takde diskaun orang tetap balik kampung juga kan?

Electronic get 30% discount but manual toll still have a discount 20% which not mentioned above.. so, users still hunt the discount..

for example, if all cars going north enter the highway at the same time, it will cause a bottleneck and major jam. so PLUS suggested that those who will have longer journey to travel first, and shortest journey last. just to make it simpler to understand; if 100 cars going to Penang and another 100 cars going to Ipoh start their journey at the same time, we will have 200 cars at the same location at the same time all the way from KL to Ipoh and traffic reduced to 50% only after Ipoh. but if those 100 cars going to Penang start their journey 2 hours earlier than those going to Ipoh, both groups enjoy smoother ride with only 50% traffic compared to the first scenario.

Why can’t the rebate be automatic like Penang Bridge for Penang T & G cards?
Raya rebates from 1st October, must go to customer centers.

I am wondering,do people actually follow the suggested time ? For example, to Penang ends with plate number ends with even number travel at xxx time.

Do they actually follow? Im just curious.

The idea and plan looks good…but i doubt on implementation ..one family(majority) hav 1 husband(say he’s gov. servant), 1 wife(private) and 1 set of school kids…working in private company mostly not flexible in terms of leave, unlike gomen or gomen agency , glc etc…then, end up ppl moving at most ideal for all family member say for e.g friday or saturday….i think this is what happens in reality.
