Qoros Cross Hybrid, Estate concepts for Geneva

Apart from the GQ3, Chinese freshman Qoros will also be bringing two new concepts based on the C-segment sedan’s platform to the Geneva motor show, which is only weeks away. Called the Cross Hybrid and Estate, the concepts preview possible future compact hatchback crossover and estate spin-offs for the brand.

Qoros says the Cross Hybrid concept features a unique hybrid drive system that can switch between petrol-engined FWD, electric motor RWD and petrol+electric AWD, and that the Estate concept “boasts generous and versatile interior space thanks to a high number of alternative seating and luggage storage options.”

“Intelligent modular vehicle platform technology allows us to create new vehicle concepts quickly and efficiently,” said vice chairman Volker Steinwascher. “The Qoros GQ3 is the first of many models that will be based on this platform, and the technology will allow us to develop a complete model family in a very efficient manner.”

While most dream of the future, Jonathan Tan dreams of the past, although he's never been there. Fantasises much too often about cruising down Treacher Road (Jalan Sultan Ismail) in a Triumph Stag that actually works, and hopes this stint here will snap him back to present reality.

Does a Toyota come with life insurance? The Avanza did as poor in crash test as those countless cheap Chinese cars from long ago. Chinese cars are these days much safer than that, at least some of them. I think the Chinese are more safety conscious than Malaysians these days, otherwise there is no way Toyota would be this successful.
