Who can forget the Mitsuoka Orochi, arguably the scariest car ever made? Believe it or not, it’s still in production in Japan, and the last 11 units built will be dressed like this!
Dubbed the Mitsuoka Orochi Evangelion Edition after the popular Neon Genesis Evangelion anime series (which explains the painfully eye-catching paintjob, at least), the limited run special will be sold through 7-Eleven outlets in Japan. It’s a fittingly eccentric send-off, we suppose.
In case you’re not familiar with the Mitsuoka Orochi, it’s a mid-engined sportscar that was inspired by the Yamata no Orochi – a Japanese folklore monster with eight heads and eight tails! It’s hand-built, and has a Toyota-sourced 3.3 litre V6 with 233 hp and 328 Nm of torque paired to a five-speed automatic transmission.
The Orochi was actually on sale in Malaysia (pictures below) and until recently, it was displayed at a showroom in Petaling Jaya. Its pricetag? A cool RM1,025,000 back in 2007. Scared yet?

Hideous Car, Hideous Name, Hideous Price…
Interesting enough, when will our 7-11 start selling cars?
Of all the shows they can base it off, it must be Neon Genesis Evangelion. One of the most depressing and mind-sh**ting shows to come out of Japan. To put a point, the creator of this show, Hidaeki Annon, was suffering from extreme depression and near-psychological meltdown when creating this.
.
Which fits the Orochi perfectly, a psychologically chellenging show for a psychologically-chellenging to look at vehicle….. and even I admit its mind blowing ugly, but, I kinda want it….the standard Orochi, not this tattooed version.
mitsuoka cars….beneath the ugly looks…are some pretty good chassis and engines….
you are on drugs ?
you may disagree…but the Mitsuoka Le-Seyde for example uses a Silvia chassis and comes with the SR20DET….so if you are looking for parts for a drift car….a mitsuoka might be where you can find some
Bagi free pun tak nak.
kalau tak nak bagi sini je
Looks like prime material for another cursed car story.
after so many years, they still selling this orochi car? no new version?
People here dun know about Japanese culture or Neon Geon Evangelis will not know how to appreciate this beauty. If i am billionaire, i would probably buy one and keep it as showcase.
