We’ve got new official photos of the 2016 Porsche 911 range, that is more affectionately known as the ‘991.2’ in Stuttgart. Subtle revisions at both ends are evident, but there still is masking in place to keep the finer details opaque.
There are supposed to be slightly altered headlights and LED daytime running lights too, but these pictures don’t really lend any credence to these claims. Its new rear bumper also showcases a new exhaust design, with the ends seemingly closer together.
A close-up shot of the 918 Spyder-inspired steering wheel also adds a driving mode selector with four options. It is believed that Porsche’s new-generation Communication Management infotainment system will also be featured, which was previously offered in the revised Cayenne range.
Ultimately, the cosmetic changes will be quite minimal, as the mechanical changes are what really matter for this latest evolution of the 911.
An unnamed Porsche spokesperson has yet again confirmed that the range’s 3.4 and 3.8 litre engine will be phased out as smaller turbocharged units will become the order of the day, and only the GT3 and GT3 RS models will have the naturally-aspirated wonder of the 4.0 litre flat-six that cranks out 500 hp.
Speculations point to an increase of at least 20 hp to 30 hp across the engines offered, meaning that entry-level models could have at least 375 hp on tap, while models like the Carrera GTS could have 435 hp or more.

If it’s true… Then most of us will miss the sweet sound of the inline 6-cylinders when it’s replaced with turbocharged 4-cylinder engines
Porsche never used inline 6-cylinders in their 911?
BTW: The new engines are flat-six turbocharged.
It’s Flat-6 bro…
They might be replacing it with flat-4
That steering wheel still doesn’t look right. A slight improvement over the previous steering wheel which looks more suitable on a Rolls Royce or Bentley.
